Due to frigid temperatures, Saint Louis Public Schools will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, February 19, 2025. This is a full closure—no classes will be held, and this will not be an Alternative Methods of Instruction (AMI) day. Please see Plan B: Snow Day on the attached graphic.
Great article by STL's @devintoshea on the call for Washington University in St. Louis to pay PILOTs to Saint Louis and University City Public Schools.
We'd urge WUSTL to stop propping up the charter industry as well, as O'Shea notes is its preference!

Historically, these days have helped protect SLPS funding, including saving $17M per year, as well as earning key victories in larger education bills.

Public money should fund public schools, which serve 90% of America’s kids. Tell Congress you oppose a national voucher program at https://t.co/2nZFeJDXLE #SchoolChoiceWeek
Wait, weren't we supposed to think WEPOWER had nothing to do with the ECE funding in this bill?
Public school advocates like @glorialnolan keep warning us. Why won't STL's elected officials listen?
So glad that WEPOWER is being called out as the special interest group that they are. They spend a lot of $$ on marketing to deceive people into thinking they're grassroots and for the people. We can never repeat the mistake of putting them in charge of public tax dollars- never
Saint. Louis Public Schools shows year-over-year academic improvement despite challenges. Still work to do, but things are not all chaos and gloom as some would have you believe.

What a great afternoon at Oak Hill Elementary today, working with back-to-back groups of @SLPS_INFO fourth graders. These young scholars and cyclists gained some great new knowledge about bike tires from lead teacher Mr. Mark!
This unanimous vote comes after 3 members either voted no to suspend or abstained. It appears that the evidence was overwhelming on the end, and the Board made a smart move to move forward.
The SLPS board voted unanimously to fire superintendent Keisha Scarlett for cause. Her deputy Millicent Borishade was appointed interim superintendent through the end of the school year (vote breakdown not revealed).
