Several students from Bishop Sulumeti Girls’ School in Kakamega were hospitalised after police used teargas to quell unrest over water shortages on June 7. Videos show students coughing and lying on hospital beds.

The protest escalated when students allegedly threw stones and demanded to go home. The teargas caused several to faint, with treatment at Lumakanda County Hospital. Officials have yet to issue a statement.
