Dawa Sherpa's Six-Day Survival on Everest ❤️🙏🇳🇵

Hillary Dawa Sherpa, a 52-year-old Nepali mountain guide, survived one of the most extraordinary self-rescues ever recorded on Mount Everest. Here's a reconstruction of events based on reports from rescuers, fellow climbers, and news sources.

*May 29, 2026 – Last Seen High on Everest.

Dawa Sherpa was descending from a failed summit attempt with a Polish climber.
He was last seen above Camp III, between Camp III and Camp IV, at roughly 7,200–7,500 meters.
He was exhausted, and his oxygen situation had become critical.
During the descent, he became separated from his team and disappeared.

*May 30–31 – Alone in the Death Zone
No radio contact was received.
Search efforts failed to locate him.
Climbers believed survival was nearly impossible because he had no food, water, or supplemental oxygen.
His family and fellow climbers increasingly feared the worst.

*June 1–2 – Fighting to Stay Alive
According to later reports, Dawa survived by:
Chewing ice and snow for water.
Rationing a small snack he found in his pocket.
Slowly crawling and sliding downhill when he lacked the strength to walk.
At one point he became trapped in a ravine and remained there for more than two days.
An avalanche reportedly filled part of the ravine, creating a way for him to continue moving downward.

*June 3 – Self-Rescue Continues
Dawa located abandoned fixed ropes left on the mountain.
Using the ropes as guidance, he continued descending despite severe frostbite and exhaustion.
By this stage he had reportedly crawled thousands of feet down the mountain.

*June 4 – Found Alive
A cleanup team from the Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee spotted him near the Khumbu Icefall above Everest Base Camp.
Rescuers reported seeing him "sliding and crawling" down the mountain.
He was immediately evacuated and transported toward Kathmandu for medical treatment.

* After Rescue
Dawa was admitted to a hospital in Kathmandu.
Doctors treated him for severe frostbite, dehydration, exhaustion, and other complications from prolonged exposure.
Family members confirmed that he was conscious and able to recognize them.
Remarkably, funeral rites had already begun because many believed he had died on the mountain.

Many experienced Everest climbers have described Dawa Sherpa's survival as one of the most remarkable Everest survival stories in recent memory.

He is currently receiving treatment at HAMS Hospital in Kathmandu. It has been reported that two of his fingers have been affected by frostbite. He remained in an extremely critical condition in the snow for nearly five days, with no food, no water, and no means of keeping his body warm. Surviving for such a long period in such a dangerous zone is truly nothing short of a miracle.

Dato’, I do not normally write such a lengthy reply. Given that you are a former Law Minister & a senior member of the legal profession, your statement deserves a proper rebuttal-based on facts, evidence & PAS’s actual record in govt, not political rhetoric.

First, criticism of Madani does not automatically prove that PAS can manage Malaysia’s economy. Condemning subsidies, debt, food imports, data centres, Formula 1 and inequality is easy. Question is whether PAS has demonstrated a better alternative wherever it has governed.

PAS has ruled Kelantan continuously since 1990-36 years. Yet DOSM’s 2024 data placed Kelantan last among all states & federal territories for mean household income, at RM5,265, while its absolute poverty rate of 11.5% was the second-highest nationally. Basic clean-water problems also remain unresolved.

If PAS possesses an economic formula capable of transforming Malaysia, why has it failed to transform Kelantan after more than three decades?

PAS has governed Terengganu continuously since 2018 & previously from 1999 to 2004. Despite the state’s petroleum resources, its finances & wider economy remain substantially dependent on petroleum-related revenue & federal support. Where is the diversified & self-sustaining Islamic economic model that Malaysians are now being promised?

Food security is indeed a serious national issue, but the recent annual food-import figure is approximately RM80 billion-not RM100 billion. More importantly, after 36 years governing an agricultural state, where is PAS Kelantan’s nationally recognised success in modern farming, irrigation, agro-technology, food processing, cold-chain logistics & import substitution?

On national debt, PAS cannot pretend to be an innocent observer. PAS was part of the PN-led federal govt from 2020 until 2022. Federal debt & deficits continued rising, while broad subsidies & emergency expenditure expanded. Which major borrowing did PAS oppose then? What expenditure did it propose cutting, & where is PAS’s fully costed plan showing how it will reduce debt without hurting the Rakyat?

Your concerns about electricity & water consumption by data centres are valid, but investment cannot simply be reduced to "Amazon and Microsoft versus Malaysians." The responsible solution is transparent tariffs, renewable-energy requirements, water-efficiency standards & infrastructure charges-so investors bear their true costs while creating investment, jobs & economic activity. What specific alternative policy has PAS produced?

On Formula 1, the public is entitled to know the full cost, funding source & economic benefit. But the claim that the govt is simply spending "RM50 million" must be supported by an official agreement or budget disclosure. The 2026 event is the relocated Bahrain Grand Prix, & reports indicate that Bahrain is expected to bear much of the rescheduling cost. We should demand transparency, not present an unverified figure as settled fact. I agree that feeding rural schoolchildren must remain a higher public priority.

I also agree that Malaysia should tax extreme wealth more fairly, close loopholes & ensure that large corporations & wealthy individuals contribute appropriately. But Malaysia already operates progressive income taxation- the debate is about improving its effectiveness. PAS must therefore disclose its proposed tax rates, thresholds, projected revenue & economic consequences-not merely invoke Islamic civilisation.

The Umayyads, Abbasids & Cordoba did not constitute one uninterrupted "500-year Islamic economic system." They were different dynasties, territories & periods, with different systems of taxation, trade & public administration. Islamic history offers valuable principles of justice, amanah & social responsibility, but historical nostalgia is not a substitute for a modern national budget.

Even after four decades of Islamic banking in Malaysia, it still operates within the same national monetary & MFRS accounting framework, while many Islamic products produce pricing & financial outcomes comparable to conventional financing. So invoking past Islamic civilisation is easy- designing a complete modern alternative covering monetary policy, taxation, banking, accounting & public debt is another matter. Where is PAS’s detailed & costed framework?

Islamic economic principles demand competence, transparency, measurable outcomes & accountability-not merely religious branding. PAS has had 36 years in Kelantan, years in Terengganu & 33 months inside the federal govt to demonstrate those principles.

Therefore, before asking Malaysians to "vote PAS," show us the audited results- higher household incomes, dependable clean water, lower poverty, diversified state revenue, stronger food production, better employment & a credible debt-reduction programme.

After 36 years in Kelantan, Malaysians are entitled to evidence-not another sermon presented as an economic policy.

Dogs aren’t even haram. The Sunni school of mazhab Syafie Islam practiced in Malaysia only deems the faecal, urinal and saliva of dogs to be haram. In other words, it is only haram to touch a wet dog.

Muslims are even allowed to have pet dogs to guard their house/property.
