WoW Classic is REALLY slow.
That's also why the ordinary stuff still feels so good. A boar, some snow, tiny numbers going up, and somehow you feel part of the world.
The crackling fire. The hanging meat. A little working tap behind the bar. None of it matters to the quest, which is exactly why I still remember this inn twenty years later.
That's worldbuilding.
We finally stopped getting wrecked, found our stride, and did the only sensible thing: broke out the dance emote.
No time to dance for too long though. We had a cave to clear.
A stranger couldn't clear the cave alone. Neither could I. We grouped up, shared buffs, and suddenly the whole thing worked.
That's the bit an MMO loses when every problem is built for one person.
No Unity. No Godot. Not even Three.js. Sol Wilds is native HTML, CSS and JavaScript because I wanted an engine I could actually read and understand.
Frankly, completely stupid madness.
Discord spent the night correcting my WoW knowledge. Fair, honestly. Would you rather watch a competent player or a complete noob get wrecked? Exactly.
A leper gnome ran into its friends, killed me, then WoW made me cross half the map to get my body back. Annoying? Yes. Also the reason any of it mattered.
