Norway must wake up before it is too late.
My short op‑ed for @StoppNRK in the Norwegian paper Dagen on the 15‑year memorial of the Utøya massacre

Translation:

July 22 is not the most beautiful thing that has happened in Norway — but it is also not the worst massacre that has happened here.

Dear all!

The worst massacre to strike Norway was the murder of nearly half of Norwegian Jews during the Second World War, a genuine genocide. Thus July 22 is the second largest massacre in Norway. In the same way, October 7 is the second largest massacre against Jews since the Holocaust.

Two weeks ago the Norwegian police stated that it was not criminal to glorify the largest massacre of Jews since the Holocaust. Ironically, on July 22 a Norwegian terrorist dressed in a police uniform — Breivik — carried out the largest massacre against non‑Jews in Norway. For those who have forgotten: during the Second World War it was actual Norwegian police officers who participated in collecting and deporting Norwegian Jews to Auschwitz, where almost all were killed.

As a Jew, with family where half were killed in the Holocaust, and as a person who has lost friends on October 7, I dare to ask: What have the Norwegian police, politicians and media learned from their actions and omissions during the Second World War?

I see a police force that has closed a complaint about the glorification of the largest massacre against Jews since the Holocaust; politicians from the Labour Party, the Socialist Left, the Green Party and the Reds who are silent; and the same media that cooperated with the Nazis (Schibsted, which owns VG, Aftenposten and BT) who are now silent about the complaint and its dismissal.

Frightening, but true: the same actors who were active or silent at the murders of the Jews during the Second World War are back, and show little change.

Somalia’s President, Professor Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, stated in an interview with the Qatari television network Al Jazeera that Somaliland had agreed to resettle Palestinians on its territory, establish an Israeli military base, and join the Abraham Accords. Mohamud added: “We did not expect Israel to recognize Somaliland and were surprised by its involvement.”

BREAKING: Good news from Norway!
The Norwegian Labour Party @Arbeiderpartiet has proposed — and won — a parliamentary vote preventing radical left parties from politicizing the sovereign wealth fund and pushing for divestment from Israeli companies.

They won the vote 85–17, with support from the center and right-wing opposition parties.

Norway’s sovereign wealth fund — also known as the Oil Fund — holds over 2% of all global stocks, making this a highly significant decision.

Dr. Rashid Abdi from Kenya warns: “Israel cannot afford to stay out of Africa.”

In an interview with Israel Hayom, Dr. Rashid Abdi, Director of Research at the Sahassan Institute in Kenya, revealed that Turkey is conducting ballistic missile tests in Eritrea — missiles with ranges capable of reaching Israel. He cautioned that Israel must engage more actively in Africa, particularly around the Red Sea and the western Indian Ocean, where strategic rivals like Turkey are rapidly expanding their influence.

According to Abdi, Turkey has signed a groundbreaking security cooperation agreement with Somalia and currently has thousands of troops stationed there. The country is also reportedly building a space and missile base north of Mogadishu, in an area known as Sheikh al-Harb, where Turkey has been granted land to develop a port and launch site.

> “If I were Israel, I’d be seriously concerned,” Abdi said.

He described Turkey as an emerging maritime power, with naval vessels operating from the Mediterranean through the Suez Canal and down the Red Sea to the Horn of Africa.

> “For the first time, Turkey is not only a Mediterranean power but also a Red Sea and western Indian Ocean power,” he noted.

Eugene Kandel, Chairman of the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, warned at the conference that radical Islam is also spreading across Africa, attempting to reignite conflict with the West.

> “Israel must not allow this to happen,” he said.

BREAKING: Somaliland Open to Help Over One Million Refugees from Gaza

Somaliland and Egypt have expressed willingness to accept refugees from Gaza, according to On Elpeleg, Commercial Attaché for Somalia in the Middle East, speaking to Norway Today.

Earlier today, the Hezbollah-affiliated newspaper Al-Akhbar reported that the Egyptian president announced at Arab summits that Egypt is willing to temporarily evacuate half a million Palestinians from Gaza to a designated city in northern Sinai. This is the first indication of cracks in the Arab world’s opposition to Trump’s plan.

Somaliland's Foreign Minister confirmed last Wednesday on Israeli national TV that the country is open to receiving refugees from Gaza.

"As the Commercial Attaché for Somalia in the Middle East, I can confirm from internal government sources in Somaliland that the country has an area in the east, covering over 200 km² along the Red Sea, with the capacity to take in over one million refugees from Gaza. The landscape here is unique and could be developed into a ‘Riviera,’" On Elpeleg stated to Norway Today.

Elpeleg continued, "If Egypt, Somaliland, and one or two other countries cooperate, all refugees could be evacuated, effectively ending this war. The evacuation could be temporary or permanent."

Somaliland is reportedly waiting for an initiative from Israel to proceed with the plans.

Earlier this week, Somaliland’s Foreign Minister, Abdirahman Dahir Adan, told Israel’s public broadcaster KAN that Somaliland’s main goal is recognition and showing the world that it is a peaceful, democratic nation.

Somaliland declared independence from Somalia but has not been formally recognized by most nations. Despite this, Israel has recognized Somaliland’s independence since 1960, though no official diplomatic relations have been established between the two countries.
