Python is an abstraction. The bare metal runs electrical signals through a network of transistors according to a pattern we determined using python. Print 1+1 doesn't result in anything for the same reason comatose patient isn't conscious despite the occasional activity spike, how information is processed is important.
@kasratweets No one claims the smear of neurons scientist used to play doom is conscious either, though some have floated the idea of using neurons to run AI's like LLMs. Would a network of neurons running an LLM be conscious?

GPUs don't 'do multiplication' tiny amounts of current are passing through transistors that form logic gates. A GPU can have 100 billion of these working synchronously. Mathematical operations are a higher level abstraction we use to program how they function.
The neural net that's programmed in code creates a blueprint that describes how those transistor will activate. That sequence of activation produces an output that is startling similar to conscious. The brain similarly has activation patterns that determine whether we are conscious and how that consciousness is presented. The question isn't if math can be conscious it's whether billions of transistors firing in sequence can be or if it's an exclusive 'special' quality of biology.
