@corsaren It's insane to me how no one except philosophers seems to bring up this point! I tend to agree for much the same reason I think my relationships would be worse off if they were all replaced with non-sentient robots.
@TiltedTapes@YngviCom I agree! That's why I say it's only useful as a rebuttal to AI water usage (because, in fact, most people do not ACTUALLY care about water usage).
It should be noted that most do not really have morals. They have two things that tell them what to hate:
1. Their social circle
2. Things that prudentially harm them
Most "moral judgements" stem from these two things. If something benefits them, they are unlikely to oppose it.
@blindinglybleak Do you think prepubescent children should be allowed to freely enter the military (EG go fight for Ukraine) or undergo other similar actions that have a severe risk of death?
@souljagoyteller I'm not sure it's about the taste, I think it's mainly just personal inconvenience. Being a vegan asks people to make personal sacrifices in a way holding other positions doesn't (along with the fact that they get little social prestige for doing so)
@asheuriii Veganism has a very low base rate to begin with. You shouldn't be surprised that any individual person isn't a vegan, no matter their disposition.
