सस्नेह जय महाराष्ट्र

महाराष्ट्रातला गणेशोत्सव निर्विघ्नपणे पार पडला, आणि तो पार पडावा ह्यासाठी ज्या प्रशासकीय यंत्रणा राबल्या त्यांचं मनापासून अभिनंदन. नेहमीप्रमाणे स्वतःच्या घरातील सण, सणाचा आनंद बाजूला ठेवून त्यांनी जे काम केलं ते नक्कीच प्रशंसेस पात्र आहे.

मी आज ज्यावर बोलतोय त्याची पार्श्वभूमी नुकताच पार पडलेला महाराष्ट्रातील महाउत्सव आणि त्याचं बदलत चाललेलं स्वरूप हे आहे. गणपती असो, दहीहंडी असो की नवरात्रोत्सव असो, रामजन्माचा उत्सव असो की इतर हिंदू देवतांचे उत्सव असोत, ते ह्या देशात उत्साहाने साजरे व्हायलाच पाहिजेत. आणि त्यावर सरकारांनी जरी निर्बंध आणले तरी महाराष्ट्र नवनिर्माण सेनेने वेळेस सरकारशी संघर्ष केला आहे आणि ह्यापुढे पण गरज पडली तर करत राहू.
आपल्या धर्मातील उत्सवांना विरोध करायचा आणि इतर धर्मातील उन्मादावर मौन बाळगायचं अशी एक जमात आपल्याकडे आहे त्यांचा मुखभंग पण आम्हीच केला आहे. त्यामुळे धर्माभिमान इत्यादी गोष्टी आम्हाला कोणी शिकवू शकत नाही हे नक्की.

पण, ह्या उत्सवात १० दिवस आणि मुख्यतः मिरवणुकांच्या वेळेस डीजे,डॉल्बी ह्यांच्या आवाजच्या कर्कश्श पातळीमुळे हृदय बंद पडणं आणि मृत्यू येणं, किंवा तात्कालिक किंवा कायमचं बहिरेपण येणं, किंवा गेले काही वर्ष तर मिरवणुकीच्या दरम्यान लेझर लाईटमुळे अनेकांची दृष्टी जाणं हे प्रकार वाढले आहेत. ह्यात मिरवणुकीत येऊन, नाचून, आनंद व्यक्त करून लोकं निघून जातात पण पोलीस असतील किंवा इतर प्रशासकीय यंत्रणांमधील लोकं असतील, त्या भागात राहणारे स्थानिक रहिवासी असतील त्यांची अवस्था खरंच गंभीर आहे. सलग २४,२४ तास आवाज कानावर पडून अनेकांची श्रवण शक्ती कमी झाली असेल तर आश्चर्य वाटायला नको. आपल्या आनंदाची, उत्सवाची मोजावी लागणारी ही किंमत ही मोठी नाही का ?

त्यातच एक बातमी आली की एका कुटुंबात एका तरुणाचा मृत्यू झाला होता, आणि त्या घराच्या बाहेर सुरु असलेला डीजेचा आवाज कमी करा सांगितलं म्हणून राग येऊन त्या घरातील लोकांना मारहाण झाली. ही घटना एखादीच असेल, त्यामुळे शितावरून भाताची परीक्षा करण्याचं कारण नाही. पण कुठेतरी आपलं चुकतंय ह्याचा विचार करायला लावणारी नक्कीच आहे.

आज एका बाजूला कौटुंबिक गणेशोत्सवात तो पर्यावरण पूरक असेल, थर्माकोलचा वापर टाळत, कृत्रिम तलावात विसर्जन करत, आपल्या आनंदामुळे निसर्गाची किंवा इतर कोणाची हानी होऊ नये हे पाहण्याचं प्रमाण वाढताना दिसतंय. आणि दुसरीकडे जेंव्हा त्याचं सार्वजनिक स्वरूप येतं तेंव्हा त्यातल्या वर उल्लेखलेल्या त्रुटी दुर्लक्षित करता येत नाहीत. ह्यासाठी सर्व राजकीय नेत्यांनी, सरकारने, समाजातील विचारवंतांनी आणि अर्थात गणेशोत्सव मंडळांनी पुढाकार घेऊन ह्याला काहीसं बीभत्स स्वरूप येतंय ते वेळीच थांबवलं पाहिजे.

उत्सव आणि आनंद साजरा व्हायलाच पाहिजे, पण माफक प्रमाणात पारंपरिक ढोलताशा पथकं, लेझीम अशा पद्धतीने मिरवणूक जर आपण काढली तर त्याचं पावित्र्य टिकेल, आनंद द्विगुणित होईल आणि हे बघायला जगभरातून लोकं पण येतील.

मी लवकरच सार्वजनिक मंडळांच्या प्रमुखांशी बोलणार आहेच. पण एकूण सरकारने आणि राजकीय पक्षांनी मतांच्या राजकारणाच्या पलीकडे जाऊन ह्यावर विचार आणि कृती करायला हवी.

शहरातील होर्डिंग्स ह्याने शहर विद्रुप होतात असे ताशेरे न्यायालयाने ओढले होते. न्यायालयाच्या ह्या मताशी मी पूर्ण सहमत आहे. आणि मी ह्या आधी म्हणलं तसं होर्डिंग संस्कृती जर सगळे राजकीय पक्ष बंद करणार असतील तर माझा पक्ष पहिला त्यात उतरेल. त्याच धर्तीवर, ह्या उत्सवातल्या काही खटकणाऱ्या गोष्टी दूर करायला संपूर्ण राजकीय व्यवस्था तयार असेल तर माझा पक्ष त्यात सगळ्यात पुढे असेल.

हिंदू सणांसाठी आम्हीच संघर्ष करतो आणि ते साजरे करताना जर काही चुकीचं आढळलं तर आम्ही पुढाकार घेऊ हा माझा शब्द आहे. आता विचार सगळ्या राजकीय पक्षांनी आणि अर्थातच समाजाचं नेतृत्व किंवा प्रबोधन करण्याची क्षमता असणाऱ्यांनी करायचा आहे.

Religion, by its very nature, will have doctrines. Sanatana Dharma doesn’t have doctrines. It’s free. It flows like water. It doesn’t tell how to pray to God and when to pray to God.

When some organised sects called themselves a religion, Sanatana Dharma had to also call itself a religion. This is the crux of Swami Vivekananda’s speech in Chicago in 1893.

When there is only Ramasamy in the world, it’s easy. When there are two Ramasamies, then the initial is needed to differentiate.

Sanatana Dharma predates the concept of any religion. Dharma is eternal as it doesn’t have an origin or an end. There is no hierarchy here, and all are equal. This Dharma sees everyone as a God.

That’s why it’s timeless & doesn’t see any religion as a threat, and accommodates all different beliefs within it.
