Dr @ShashiTharoor talks about Indian media coverage of the 2015 Nepal earthquake. He agrees it was a “low point,” even though India’s official relief was large and useful. Dr Tharoor articulates Nepalis have dignity and self-respect. Help that is delivered with a self-congratulatory “look how much we are doing for you” tone grates.
The last people who should remind someone they need help are the people giving the help.
The relief itself was real and made a difference; the manner of coverage and public messaging was the problem. Government, media, and Indian society all need to be more sensitive in how they treat Nepal.
He notes he had visited Nepal shortly before the quake, so seeing those places in ruins was personally painful. As chair of the foreign affairs committee he discussed aid, not media ethics—but he shares the concern now.

In this conversation with Faisal Fehmi, Yasir Khan Inaam breaks down why the greatest skill any writer can master isn't just having a good vocabulary, but the ruthless courage to reject their own words and rework a misra (line) until it is absolutely perfect. The ability to recognize your own flaws and cut your own lines is exactly where true poetry begins.

Empowering Youth, Building a Drug-Free Future!
Glad to launch 'Drug Free Mumbai', an anti-drug awareness campaign in Mumbai today.
Today marks a renewed commitment towards building a healthier, stronger and safer India. Under the visionary leadership of our Hon PM Narendra Modi Ji, the mission of building a Drug-Free India has inspired a nationwide movement. To translate this vision into action, we have launched the Drug-Free Mumbai campaign, reaffirming our commitment towards building a Drug-Free Maharashtra.
India is progressing rapidly, achieving remarkable milestones in the economy, technology, AI, innovation and space exploration. At the heart of this transformation is our greatest strength, our Youth, whose energy, talent and determination will shape India's future. As our youth prepare to lead the India of tomorrow, they also face a growing challenge. Drug abuse is a silent threat that seeks to mislead young minds and weaken our society from within. While the government is taking strict action against drug production, supply and trafficking, this mission cannot succeed without the active participation of society.
As our Hon PM Modi Ji has emphasised, the fight against drugs cannot be won by any one department or institution alone. It requires the collective efforts of government agencies, law enforcement, educational institutions, parents, communities and most importantly, our youth. Every young person must take a firm pledge to Say No To Drugs and reject any influence or pressure that threatens their future.
Let us unite to build a Drug-Free Mumbai and a Drug-Free Maharashtra, ensuring every young person has the opportunity to dream, achieve and lead India towards a brighter future.
Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha ji and other dignitaries were present.

Born in Amritsar in 1922, Saifuddin Saif began writing powerful poetry during college before transitioning into cinema, where he famously penned lyrics for Pakistan's first released film, Teri Yaad, in 1948. His career flourished in 1953 with multiple hit songs, leading him to establish his own production company, 'Rehnuma Films', in 1954. While his first independent film flopped, he bounced back with the massive commercial hit Saat Lakh in 1957 and the brilliantly directed masterpiece Kartar Singh in 1959. Beyond his cinematic achievements as a scriptwriter and director, he compiled his literary work into the poetry collection ‘Kham-e-Kaakul’. Saif passed away in 1993, leaving a profound and lasting mark on both the Film industry and Urdu literature.

It didn’t end the way we wanted it to but….the journey was spectacular ! It was exciting, entertaining & it was inspiring. I loved the fight & the grit our young team, our shers showed throughout the tournament. I loved the way our captain, our Sarpanch lead from the front & how Indian uncapped players dominated this IPL !
This year was unique. We smashed records even though we lost key and players to injury & national duty, witnessed a pause in the tournament, transferred home games to other states & evacuated a stadium ! We adapted & topped the points table after a decade & fought till the end in an exciting final.
I am so proud of each n every player of @PunjabKingsIPL for showing so much character throughout the tournament. A big thank you to each of them and to our support staff and everyone at PBKS for an incredible season. Most of all a HEARTFELT THANK YOU 🙏 to our - SHER SQUAD - our FANS that stood with us through thick n thin. Whatever we are & how far we have reached is all because of you ❤️I promise we will come back to finish the job cuz as of now the job is still half done. See you next year in the stadium , till then take care n stay safe everyone. Love you all ❤️Ting!
