@pdavis1999 True, but if he did it right after the war the South would already be under Northern military force. Seceding then would be hard

[Caleb Song @SongCaleb]

@pdavis1999 Sorry, my point wasn't able to fit in the tweet- couldn't it be better to win first then take slavery out right after that?

[Caleb Song @SongCaleb]

#apush220 Interesting to consider- was Lincoln's employed method of emancipation better than a slow attempt after the Union was saved?

@librarycongress #APUSH220 Regardless of how many times it passed hands, nobody knew the boundaries of Louisiana https://t.co/fKrGIdPjmO

@gdimonte8 @shoeltgen143 GW barely stopped a coup-how would ppl react if he said to free slaves and give women equal rights?

[Caleb Song @SongCaleb]

@shoeltgen143 @gdimonte8 It was like Jefferson's "the next generation's problem". They felt the war was enough to have on their plate.

[Caleb Song @SongCaleb]

@shoeltgen143 @gdimonte8 In the period of war men have tended to overlook details (anything besides winning the war).

[Caleb Song @SongCaleb]

@gdimonte8 @shoeltgen143 Remember that men were focused more on the war than enlightenment at the time.

[Caleb Song @SongCaleb]

@gdimonte8 @shoeltgen143 That's exactly it. Women had to run the house during war but the men felt more important b/c they fought the war.

[Caleb Song @SongCaleb]

@gdimonte8 @shoeltgen143 #apush220 I think this is related to some of the post-war gender freedoms trends in world history.

[Caleb Song @SongCaleb]

@gdimonte8 @shoeltgen143 Hence the short-sightedness. I do wonder what the FF could have done without being labeled as crazy.

[Caleb Song @SongCaleb]

@shoeltgen143 #apush220 Was a possible reason for not even mentioning women the fact that most were married and had a co-vote w/ husband?

#apush220 Loyalists from British/loyalist standpoint- gives perspective on how many there actually were. https://t.co/NRjRQdtS60

#apush220 @washingtonpost https://t.co/j2VPl0LAty Americans don't hate taxes. We hate unfair taxes (I guess?).

[Caleb Song @SongCaleb]

@RSeidel_NBCT @washingtonpost I just deleted it to do that- oops

@annetokarski By the time you say "I'm late" the 6 min BTSN class might be over. At least you have 12 minutes to find the next one.

@PopMech https://t.co/NuqTBfyRof Don't pick up your dog. It's just a bad idea.

That's so cool @wkerslake. It feels like the computer is playing tricks on you even though it isn't. https://t.co/CqkBEeAsi0

There are twelve black dots at the intersections in this image. Your brain won’t let you see them all at once.

#apush220 @businessinsider It's important to remember those who gave their lives. Thank you for your sacrifice. https://t.co/g3dCHfB1It

@klindh220 #APUSH220 Americans wanted prosperity and freedoms w/out leaving Brit lifestyle- so they made English gov't w/ them at the top.
