@MrEwanMorrison@uvray_deceased I would be interested in your suggestions for how we could break into this market? I've been writing creatively for over twenty years, have 3 finished books, at least 3 more in the works, but I find I get nowhere with agents or publishers and have no idea how to play the game🫣
@SketchesbyBoze I have always been out of step with the youth. Other 90s kids were listening to their favourite band and obsessed with Hollywood: I listened to Chopin and spent my days acting out stories. I could name maybe one actor. Now I'm weirder than ever and as happy as punch lol
@jakonrath This is so depressing. I will never use AI to write my fiction. For me that emerges ritualistically, imaginatively; it is like passing into a trance. AI has the opposite effect: it flattens words and ideas. I'll probably die in obscurity but at least I'll have lived in my words.
@stepha_henson I am 42 and, like you, have written my whole life. I have academic publications but no creative ones yet, despite having three completed novel manuscripts. Don't give up - if you write, you are an author. Your age is irrelevant.
@therealnaomib Fair enough. I meant that I think they may be desperate to be recognised; of course the irony is that they sacrifice the one thing that would have made them stand out - their identity as a writer🫣
@SketchesbyBoze The difference between this brave new world and the Medieval period is that they had a rich oral culture to compensate for lack of letters. The new masses will not have either
@AnthonyEsolen I'm curious as to why you dislike Daniel Deronda? In my view it marks a tentative step away from the secularism of Eliot's earlier novels.
@sekobuth@JJ_Stellies I agree. Someone will ride to power on the wave of discontent - an opportunist who will almost certainly be far more dangerous than what we are dealing with now.
@Paratus2014@joescot89898436 Freedom to kill others? Statistically the risk of covid is much, much higher than the risk of the vaccine. The "it's my choice' argument falls flat when your choice could be the difference between someone else's life and death
