@WilburJaywright@aean0x@LundukeJournal@ArtixLinux We had a discussion on SonicDE support for the aerothemeplasma in https://t.co/TgEZY2WW27. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to leave a comment there.
We forked the #KDE Plasma Login Manager. It now runs on #X11, drops privileges after init, and supports #systemd-free too. We tested it on Artix Linux with OpenRC, CachyOS with systemd, and on the #FreeBSD-based GhostBSD. #SonicDE sonic-login-manager https://t.co/EkSeVP5fgx
@bee_fumo You can check out the KDE blog post on the Plasma Login Manager and SDDM. It discusses the technical aspects and explains why they chose a different approach. We are following that one. https://t.co/sCBG7Mkd2I
@WesternAutocrat Yes, we deprecated the SonicDE packages on the XLibre repository. It was a friendly co-hosting solution to get things started, and now https://t.co/KIESVd7vhy is the authoritative source.
We consolidated the #SonicDE for #ArchLinux packages and created a standalone repository at https://t.co/KIESVd6Xs0. There, we provide binary packages for x86_64 and maintain the PKGBUILDs for the #AUR. Please update any existing custom SonicDE entries in your pacman.conf.
@nightshift_tony@Th00rBeardedOne@ReimuNotMoe SonicDE relies on Xorg or XLibre, which does not yet offer HDR support. However, @XlibreDev is currently working on an HDR proof-of-concept at https://t.co/TXxudoVDsY, and we’ll see if and how we can integrate that if they are successful.
Rumor already has it, and it's true. We’re currently working on removing #Wayland support from #SonicDE and the underlying forked libraries. This will pave the way for us to focus on preserving and improving our #X11 version of #KDE#Plasma 6.
@XLibreDev@OpenMandrivaOrg@SonicDesktop the full combo of OpenMandriva, xLibre with x11-forwarding and SonicDE fork of Plasma work on Asus ROG ALLY X. Tested and proven.
