The BBC documentary was just a timely reminder to Oli supporters that kids were shot for raising voice against corruption, that 23rd came before 24th. A reminder that sheer arrogance of an incompetent leader can lead to huge loss for the country. For the rest of us,we never forgot
This outpouring of frustrations is not only against Sagar Thapas, Jaybirs, Shrinkhalas. This is against Bibeks, Sachins, Swaris. We have seen Jholeys bagging lucrative government contracts and sponsored education just by licking ass leaving this country only fit for Jholeys.
Nepal protest is primarily against corruption and misgovernance. Social media ban was just the tipping point.
Why is Indian Godi media misleading people by not showing the reality?
Tripureshwor-Maitighar-Bijulibazar-New Baneshwor, and Tinkune are extremely risky right now,
with armored vehicles deployed, heavy infantry present, and police ordered to shoot on sight.
Please steer clear of these areas.
HE WAS TRYING TO GET BACK HOME.
instead of protecting the people they were bullying an innocent man like wtf are you doing this is soooo messed up man.
This is the single largest death toll from any public protest in Nepal’s history.
Even during the second Jana Andolan in 2006 … 13 people were killed over 19 days of protest.
Today, the KP Sharma Oli regime killed at least 19 people, most of them youths, in a single day.
Wannabe dicktators think that killing citizens will save them; but often it goes the other way.
The images coming from Nepal are horrific, the Govt crackdown barbaric.
Young protestors have once again shown that tolerance to corruption & authoritarian rule has limits....once the dam of anger bursts, there is no telling who gets swept away.
Here's wishing that Nepal fights the darkness to bring in light & freedom.
Protesters have a right to peacefully protest and express their frustration and outrage against corruption and the government’s restriction on the right to freedom of expression including the social media ban in Nepal.
Amnesty calls for the immediate de-escalation of the situation and urges the government to adopt a rights-respecting approach in the policing of protests.
#Nepal: We are shocked by the killings and injury of protesters today and urge a prompt and transparent investigation.
We have received several deeply worrying allegations of unnecessary or disproportionate use of force by security forces during protests organized by youth groups demonstrating against corruption and the recent Government ban on social media platforms.
We call on the authorities to respect and ensure the rights of peaceful assembly and freedom of expression.
All security forces must comply with the basic principles on the use of force and firearms by law enforcement officials.
Nepal enjoys a lively democracy and active civic space, and dialogue is the best means to address young people’s concerns. We urge reconsideration of measures to regulate social media to ensure they comply with Nepal’s human rights obligations.

Dear journos, this protest erupted because people have had enough. Please don’t reduce it to just a reaction against the social media ban. If you’re the point of contact for international media, make sure to highlight the broader frustration & go beyond this narrow narrative! 🙏
- Minors in College Uniform got shot
- People taking shelter in nearby buildings got shot
- Hospitals were bombarded with tear gas
- Ambulance carrying the wounded were stopped and attacked
- Live Bullets were used instead of Rubber Bullets
These are war crimes
@aayushevsky This breaks my heart and makes me furious at the same time. Instead of protecting those innocent children they were made to sit on the frontline. Not just the government, but people like that guy are to be blamed as well.
