Gilbert Arenas says he respects Spurs defense, but offensively they don’t have no go-to offense when it counts:

“I can’t duck it because it’s not changed. You can’t have a guy go out for 41 and 24, then barley get the ball last game, barley gets the ball this game. He’s the biggest force in the game, but you only see him once in a blue moon because the rest of the team thinks that they move the ship when it’s him who’s unstoppable. As guards. The elite of OKC defense is their guard play. The only person that has an advantage here is Wemby because he doesn’t actually have to play man-to-man defense, just help defense. So, he gets to save a lot of energy, but it seems like he’s saving all of his energy on offense because he gets the ball once every four or five minutes and he can’t will his dominance on this game if he’s not getting the ball like that.”

There’s a coordinated effort from parts of “sports media” to shape the officiating narrative around OKC.

Jay Williams says it’s easy to root for Victor Wembanyama, but claims he has a hard time rooting for OKC because of “foul baiting” and “flopping.”

Meanwhile, he completely ignores Wemby’s own history of foul baiting, flopping, goal tending, and what Spurs fans like to call “ethical hoops.”

This is also the same Jay Williams who told Brian Windhorst he had no issue with Wemby elbowing Naz Reid in the face.

So which is it? Are we pretending to care about “ethical hoops,” or does it only matter when it’s OKC?
