International Stammer Awareness Day!
My Story,
In my podcasts or if you know me well, you might notice that I sometimes stutter. When I was a kid, it was much worse, and I'd often feel like avoiding speaking altogether. A few years ago, I decided to change things. I was tired of hiding and not fully accepting myself. I wanted to prove that my stutter wouldn't define me, that I could be just like other kids.
So, in 2021, at the age of 14, I took a big risk and started my own podcast. It was scary, and I clearly remember my first podcast with Sam Wardrop, where my nerves made me stutter. But since then, I've made 20 more podcasts, interviewing Champions League and Premier League winners. I've built a brand that constantly challenges my stutter and shows everyone that a Stammer won't define who I am.
Even today, I still stutter, and I tend to avoid things like making phone calls or ordering food in a restaurant. Instead, I might point or write things down. But my stutter no longer holds me back. It's a part of me, and I know I can overcome it. I also realize that some people have more severe stutters or face greater challenges, so I'm grateful for what I have. I embrace my stutter; it's a unique part of who I am.
In the future, there might be pills or treatments to stop stuttering. When I was a kid, I really hoped for that! But the most important thing is to accept and love yourself. No matter what happens, embracing who you are is the best change you can make.
