$POET: Let’s get real about the numbers

Let me paint a picture of where this company actually is, because there’s a lot of noise about that $5M backlog.

Is it a lot? Is it a little? Let’s break it down.

➡️First off:

$POET is basically pre-revenue.

Last year? $1M.

They entered this year with a $5M backlog.

Is that something to get hyped about?

Honestly, no.

Even if they hit $20M or $50M this year - let’s be realists - it’s just the absolute beginning.

What we’re really waiting for is the HYPERSCALER VALIDATION.

2⃣The 2026 Game Plan

The annual report from late March gave us the roadmap:

Production: "In excess of 30,000 optical engines in 2026."

Revenue: Targeting $7M to $10M for the year.

Capacity: Their JV with Sanan IC (SPX) is already set up for 1 million units per year with current gear, and they can scale way beyond that.

3⃣Let’s do some quick math (keeping it simple):

30k modules (shipped EOY) = $10M revenue

1M units capacity = $333M revenue

The Big Picture:
Thomas Mika mentioned in a recent interview they could easily scale to 5-10M units. We’re talking $1.5B - $3B in revenue.

"Still not enough?" 🤨

Think about it: if the big hyperscalers start placing orders, $POET can scale to 20M, 40M, or even 100M units. Why? Because their model is fabless.

They have a unique product - the Optical Interposer.

They produce optics the same way companies produce chips: 500 wafers at a time, full automation, "set it and forget it."

They don't build massive plants; they use partners, add a few machines, and they’re good to go.

4⃣The "Cheat Code"

They’re aiming for 50% margins. Because of the Interposer, they’ve stripped down the BOM (Bill of Materials).

They can sell at the same price as the competition but with a much fatter margin.

Oh, and I forgot the best part: It runs cooler, uses less power, and has lower optical loss.

They’re selling a superior product at a competitive price with higher margrins and better scalability.

"But they don't have their own lasers!"

True. But they can use ANY laser.

Today it’s $SIVE, but if a major Tier 1 customer wants Lumentum lasers?

Fine, they put in Lumentum.

Total flexibility.

Plus, $POET is in the best spot for the shift to the future - CPO.

5⃣The Downside? ⚠️

Execution risk is real.

Right now, revenues and volumes are low.

If they fail to deliver on time, the market will lose patience.

That 30k target for EOY is basically just "calibrating" the machines.
