Abiy Ahmed arrested Taye Dendea, a state minister of Ministry of Peace. Taye blamed Abiy for the devastating wars in Ethiopia before he got arrested today. Abiy does not allow any decent voice both within his party and in Ethiopia. Abiy means violence!

"I love looking for the good in the world! As I flew up to Washington today, I had this cute little 94-year-old lady get on my plane.

She was frail and had a hard time getting back to her seat. There was a bit of confusion about where she was supposed to be seated.

In first-class, this wonderful gentleman saw her plight and flagged me down.

He said, "can you please get her and put her in my seat, and I will take hers."

He walked back with me to get her and take her to first class. She was so touched.

The woman gave him a big hug and said, "Never in my 94 years has someone done that for me. Thank you, young man."

She had tears of gratitude.

It was amazing how his thoughtful act changed the attitude of everyone on the flight.

May we all look for the little things we can do to help others around us and show kindness.

In this crazy world, let's all try to be the good."

“Those decisions are still pending,” Ms Hamilton told journalists from the continent, and that “there probably will not be an announcement at the time that we get to the AGOA Forum,” she said referring to the upcoming AGOA forum.

President Joe Biden signed an executive order in November 2021 removing Ethiopia from AGOA following the escalation of the war, which started a year earlier in the Tigray region, and witnessed “gross violations of internationally recognized human rights.”

The Ethiopian government condemned the decision, describing it as “misguided and failing to consider the wellbeing of ordinary citizens.”

#Ethiopian-born ‘most impactful geneticist’ Gebisa Ejeta awarded #US National Medal of Science

President Joe Biden on Tuesday (Oct. 24) awarded the National Medal of Science to Gebisa Ejeta, Distinguished Professor of Plant Breeding & Genetics and International Agriculture, executive director of the Purdue Center for Global Food Security and Purdue University Presidential Fellow for Food Security and Sustainable Global Development. 

The award is the highest recognition the nation bestows upon scientists.

Gebisa studies sorghum, an ancient grain used widely as a food source for humans and livestock. He received the 2009 World Food Prize for his research in creating sorghum hybrids that are resistant to both severe drought and the destructive parasitic Striga weed. The resulting dramatic increase in sorghum production has helped feed hundreds of millions of people in sub-Saharan Africa.

"Gebisa Ejeta is one of the most impactful geneticists in the world, a remarkable leader at Purdue in food security research, and a role model of perseverance for all Boilermakers. Our university celebrates another prestigious and richly deserved honor, bestowed by the president of the United States, to Gebisa, and I am delighted to join him on behalf of our university at the White House ceremony today," said Purdue University President Mung Chiang.
