Ran into a former classmate of mine from back in college. He is Egyptian. Bright guy. A little crazy too. Participated in the Arab spring that sent Hosni Mubarak packing. Dude immediately asked me what dafuq is happening in Nigeria, and that he has been following up with proceedings before, during and after the Nigerian election, but to his greatest surprise, Nigerians are just talking and not doing anything on ground to register their displeasure on the election.

I did my best to explain to him why we aren't hitting the streets just yet, the court process, tribunal, bla bla bla bla...Bruh rudely cut me off and said: "you people are too afraid", that we are weak, scaredy-cat, and cowards; and that all we do is talk talk talk....speak beautiful English like Americans (...afterall you people are very educated, he added), and after talking, nothing happens. He took a slight dig at us which I let slide. And then he added, "if you people don't do anything about the election, nobody in the world will take Nigerian youths serious.

His words sank deep into my heart cus it was said with so much pain and authority. I could feel his angst, and the little jab he veily took at Nigerians, but I felt that doesn't matter. I stood there transfixed to the ground listening to him speak. Helpless. Motionless. We chatted about old times, school, career, old friends, business, family, etc, before dabbing and bidding ourselves goodbye.

His words were cold, somewhat mockery, but real. It came from a good place, I thought, maybe not, it ranged through my head.

I hope the Judiciary save the country from descending into anarchy. The law is plain and simple. If they choose to knee-cap justice, the people have every right to reject unjust interpretation of our laws.
