📌The paradox of attention vs. impact: Despite decades of focus, only about 3.5% of bank lending goes to agriculture, a figure that has barely shifted in 20 years.
📌Beyond banks: Much of Africa’s agricultural activity, nearly 80% of the sector remains invisible to banks, sustained instead by informal systems like SACCOs, cooperatives, and community guarantees. 📌Collective action is essential: “No single institution can solve this alone.”
