Great to see this work with @manenbu and @FrancesWallCSM out in Science Advances.
Don't forget about the alkalis when considering #REE mineralisation in carbonatites!

Our @SosRare@NatureComms paper led by @Anoukborst shows that #rareearths are adsorbed onto clays in Malagasy laterite, similar to Chinese ion adsorption clays. Rare earths are vital for green tech (e.g. wind turbines & electric cars), so understanding global resources is vital.
New sources for rare earth metals vital for modern tech, including mobile phones, laptops and televisions, have been discovered by researchers at @univofstandrews and @uniofbrighton, part of the NERC and @EPSRC-funded @SosRare consortium.

There are several @SosRare papers in press now as part of an exciting thematic set on critical metals led by @Geo_Eimear. I've put together a quick summary of them in the thread below:
Look out for when the thematic set goes live early next year!
4) Lastly, @s_broom_fendley (and co-authors incl. @MartinS_Rubble @mabadean@FrancesWallCSM) show that S can be incorporated into monazite as both sulphate and sulphide, opening up the possibility of using monazite as a 'tracer' for S mobility.

@rareearthsnews from Minviro discusses how life cycle assessment using the process that he has developed will help to tackle the newly recognised risk of reducing carbon footprint in mining. #crmfuture2019@HiTech_AlkCarb@SosRare
Without Rare Earths there will no be any technology development in the future @hallgartenco introduced 5G technology as example @HiTech_AlkCarb @SosRare which is highly dependent on Erbium
