@rabbimarkiz I definitely believe they exist. Would be stupid to ignore the fact that people transition. I don't agree with their choice or their definition of gender but they are fully entitled to do as they please and view themselves how they want.

@rabbimarkiz That's true. But keep in mind that many things in today's world are complicated halachically. Give them the benefit of doubt that they are trying to do the right thing.

@rabbimarkiz I don't agree with trans people from a religious perspective. I do however think they should be treated with respect and if they would like to be called by a new name, that's fine.

@CraftsmanBob @GeorgeIsa1 @FBINewark Are you aware of the fact that in NJ there are hundreds of synagogues, many with only 50 or so members and there is no way financially that they could all be protected as in Australia? They cannot afford private security or expensive security systems.

@rabbimarkiz True, but the reason why people don't want to call trans people by their chosen name is because they disagree with transitioning for religious or other reasons and feel that calling them by the new name is in a sense agreeing with the transition. So it isn't really a comparison
