🔹 Registration is now compulsory
Every rent agreement (home/shop) must be registered within 60 days. Unregistered agreements = Rs.5,000/- penalty + no legal value.
🔹 No more verbal agreements
Only written & registered rent agreements are valid. Govt. will introduce a standard format soon.
🔹 Security deposit capped
• Residential – max 2 months’ rent
• Commercial – max 6 months’ rent
Demanding 8 - 12 months is now illegal.
🔹 Rent hike only once a year
Must give 90 days written notice.
🔹 Stronger eviction protection
Mandatory notice:
• <1 year stay → 1 month
• 1-5 years → 2 months
• >5 years → 6 months
🔹 Fast-track Rent Courts
Disputes to be resolved in 60-90 days, avoiding long civil court battles.
🔹 Landlord cannot enter without notice
At least 24 hours’ written notice before inspection.
🔹 Illegal eviction tactics = punishable
Lock change, cutting electricity/water, threats – all banned & punishable.
🔹 Overstay penalty
If the tenant doesn’t vacate after expiry → landlord can charge double rent.
These rules aim to bring fairness, transparency & protection to both parties.
Share this widely - knowledge is protection. 🔒✨

Government Makes the Four Labour Codes effective to Simplify and Streamline Labour Laws
A comparison of the labour ecosystem, before and after the implementation of the Labour Codes, is as follows:
The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has decided to extend the specified date for filing various audit reports for the Previous Year 2024–25 (Assessment Year 2025–26), from 30th September 2025 to 31st October 2025, for assessees referred to in clause (a) of Explanation 2 to sub-section (1) of section 139 of the Act.
Department of Consumer Affairs, Government of India has issued circular under Legal Metrology Act to permit old MRP labelling and packaging till December 31.
🛒 Industries can now revise MRP of unsold stock due to GST changes.
✔️ Valid till Dec 31, 2025
✔️ Must display both original & revised MRP
✔️ Revision capped at tax difference only
✔️ Public notices compulsory
📢 Federation of All India Distributors Associations has urged FM Nirmala Sitharaman for clear guidelines to:
1️⃣ Protect intermediaries from unfair burden
2️⃣ Safeguard on old stock and ITC relief
3️⃣ Protection from legal, financial risks to ensure benefits reach consumers transparently
🚨 #GST Council’s Major Rate Revision
Wide-ranging changes across sectors: Food, Health, Education, Agriculture, Common Goods, Textiles, Energy, Transport & Luxury/Sin Goods.
Some items go Nil GST, others face hikes up to 40%.
Here’s the full breakdown 🧵⬇️
With reference to yesterday’s press release on GST rate changes, it is important to understand when the new rates will apply and when the old rates will.
These scenarios are clearly outlined under Section 14 of the CGST Act.
HSN Reporting for Small B2C Dealers (ATO ≤ ₹5 Cr): Legally Optional but mandatory as per GST Portal?
There’s a compliance dilemma under GST that deserves more attention.
The law is clear: if your aggregate turnover is ₹5 crore or less, and you’re making B2C supplies, then mentioning HSN codes on invoices is optional. This position stems from Rule 46(g) read with Notification 78/2020–CT.
So far, no confusion.
But here's the twist: starting June 2025, the GST portal has introduced a structural change in GSTR-1. Table 12 is now split into B2B and B2C tabs, and the B2C section now includes a dropdown for HSN selection - even for those not legally required to report it.
This has created an awkward contradiction.
While the system doesn’t force you yet - validations are still in warning mode - it strongly nudges you to report HSNs even for B2C transactions. For many small dealers, this gives the impression that HSN entry is now mandatory.
In reality, the legal mandate hasn’t changed.
Until we get formal clarity or revised notifications, one thing is clear: Portal behaviour is shaping taxpayer behavior more than the GST statute itself.
What’s your view? Should this remain optional, or will you be doing mandatory B2C HSN reporting in your GSTR-1?
Hon'ble Minister of @LabourMinistry, Dr. @mansukhmandviya, met members of 🇮🇳's tripartite delegation to @ILO's on-going #113ILC in Geneva.
Discussed with the workers' and employers' groups about presenting India's perspectives on inclusive and forward-looking labour standards at #ILC's global stage.
Delivered the National Statement at the Plenary Session of the 113th International Labour Conference at ILO, Geneva. Deliberated on relevant and critical issues shaping the future of work including:
✅ New standards on protecting workers from biological hazards,
✅ Advancing decent work in the platform economy,
✅ Fostering innovative strategies for formalizing the informal economy.
Under the leadership of PM Shri @narendramodi ji, India has laid a strong foundation for inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
As per the current implemented design GST system is only validating the values in Table -12 of GSTR-1 concerning the B2B table which is mandatory.
Whereas the GST system is allowing any numerical value to be entered in B2C table of Table-12 of GSTR-1, even it could be left empty as the said field is not mandatory.
