Selling it to a private bank raises a fundamental question: Should institutions built to serve the nation’s developmental needs be governed primarily by private profit?

Public interest, affordable credit, financial inclusion and India’s long-term economic priorities must not become secondary to commercial interests.

A nation’s financial institutions are more than assets on a balance sheet. Protect the public interest. Protect IDBI.
