One of the best Tier 1 practices is creating engaging lessons where Ss are part of the learning process. Pictures from Zoology class show Ss noting observations on caterpillars, making predictions about bug habitat preference, and voicing their choice for an upcoming project🔍

Math enrichment + lesson on empathy= Stempathy
Discussion to help students consider how people might feel in different circumstances then having a hands-on opportunity to problem solve and create new ways to remove barriers 🤝

Not only does morning meeting allow for a review of expectations every day, this special time provides consistency and routine, and continuous building of community, showing students day after day that this is a safe place where everyone belongs! #PBIS

More morning meeting fun in 4th grade! During this class they shared about a favorite animal and then were “open for questions” from their classmates. The time wrapped up with a little heads or tails dance party 🎉

Morning meeting greeting time is an amazing time of day! An example below of 5th and 2nd grade welcoming each other into their classroom community for the day. From the picture you can’t hear the laughter but there was a lot! This time together truly sets the tone for the day ☀️

Tier 1 in 3rd grade— learning about empathy, generosity, and self care by imagining an invisible bucket they carry and fill up throughout the day. Check out the list they created with actions and words that can help fill their own bucket and help others fill theirs too! 🪣💛

The first week in 4th grade focused on the Tier 1 practice of developing a growth mindset. When faced with a challenge this mindset helps a student think differently about their approach and their self talk, helping to foster resilience, self-confidence, and self-efficacy🧠👍
