You missed the obvious answer, instead of lowering the cost of the car, just make more money. Then you can help fight climate change even more by being generous your your money instead of being generous with others money. More money in the hands of Tesla means even more electric cars and solar power. Everyone wins if you just pay more. So obvious.
But Rivian didn't sell autonomous driving to a customer. And Toyota didn't sell a solid state battery to a customer. Tesla sold many many thousands of FSD license to customers, took their money, and didn't deliver.
Sure many companies make claims about future products, but Tesla took people's money for a product that didn't exist.
I think they need to develop tiered pricing for FSD. With 14-lite supervised this is the lowest tier. V14 Supervised the next tier, Unsupervised a higher tier, and eventually there will be a AI5 version with more capability. They can't charge the same price for all versions. And as time goes on there will be more and more versions/tiers
For those people who believed the hype and bought FSD outright they should make it right, but there is zero evidence they intend to.
@niccruzpatane@Tesla Early reports of V14 Lite are encouraging. The last version I drove on my car was 12.6 and that was over a year ago. I test drove a new Y with AI4 and V14.2 and it was night and day. I realize 14 Lite won't be the same but I hope it is at least usable.
I don't know how Tesla got away with taking all those people's money and not delivering them the functionality. Especially those who have since sold their car and took a complete loss. Even if Tesla was not legally compelled to refund their money, they should have the integrity to make it right.
I personally would never buy something on the hope of what it might do one day, but many promises were made and broken. V14-lite will never be what was promised and doesn't fix what was done. It is yet to see what it will actually deliver.
We need to make one simple change on our tax forms. Add one line that allows any tax filer to fill in any amount of additional taxes they want to voluntarily pay. Could be from income, could be from savings, from investments. Treasury will take anything you offer. Then these hypocrites can put their own money where their mouth is. And when they campaign to have others to pay more taxes, we can all see how much they really believe in that themselves.
@Teslarati I haven’t charged at a supercharger in 2 years. I charge at home augmented by solar. It’s nice to have that network for road trips but I rarely use it.
@JakeIlson@SciGuySpace SpaceX used a test stand to do that static fire test. When it blew up they adapted the launch pad to get back to testing. This was Blue Origin's only launch pad. It will likely take a year to rebuild it. Maybe longer.
@TechOperator Honda will focus on hybrids. Cars with the complexity or both ICE and EV drivetrains. I fear over time Japan and the USA will become automobile islands to themselves. With high labor costs and few exports can you imagine what a car in 2040 will cost in the US?
@dezmondOliver There is no law that requires a manufacturer to make spare parts for a certain period of time. Third parties may make parts of it makes them money. There are always junk yards.
Then stop using data centers. Like this post on X for example. Oh and no on-line banking. Or shopping. Or streaming. Or searching. Using apps on your phone. In fact just unplug. People complain about data centers yet they spur the demand for data centers with their actions that use more and more data centers.
