OPEN Streets… in Cambridge, ON, Canada.
What if cities everywhere opened a citywide network of PUBLIC space (streets) every summer Sunday to walk, bike, run, chat, shop…
Great for environment, mental & physical health, business, fun!!! All ages& abilities
Love Park is the best new public space in the city. Some incredible work from CCxA, @GH3architects, @WaterfrontTO, @WaterfrontBIA, Maker Sculpture, Mosaika and more. Thread.
Glasgow seems to be managing to do something rather wonderful here - worth the wider world noticing I think. The M8 motorway and industrial decline previously created urban desert, devoid of community. This new park is part of work to reconnect parts of the city. I'm impressed.
I'm enthralled by the energy on Madrid's traffic-free boulevard, Gran Vía.
Would you give up a car-centric street in your town to enjoy a wonderful scene like this...?
Hard to believe, but these two pictures are of the same place in Boston, four years apart. This project went over schedule and over budget, but the only questions that will linger into the future are why the heck it wasn't done sooner, and why more cities aren't following suit.

Great to see that the Devonport Village Safe Speeds project is underway, providing safer access for the Devonport Village, the Ferry & 2 schools along with visitors to the area. The project involves strategically sited new ped & bike raised crossings & a protected cycle lane.
