@markobilal@benhubbard@UtdMaI Knockout games are just objectively better than any other format. Jettison the group stage entirely and just have 64 teams play knockout from the start. Yes, that means 32 teams play only once in the whole tournament. That's a skill issue, get over it.
@paulg@elonmusk Why is hypocrisy the only stick you have? "You have insufficient virtue as a human so you have no right to value it at all?" Does that rule count for morality as well? If I find you have a single moral failing am I allowed to ignore morality entirely and do whatever I want?
@Srirachachau@dragoon2691 It's true that the toys are much more vulnerable and 'toy-ish' in the first movie. Being stuck just a few blocks from home is treated an insurmountable obstacle. Being toy is basically treated like as having a disability.
@Srirachachau@dragoon2691 Arguably the first movie has the lowest stakes. It's the only movie that doesn't have time passing or mortality as a major theme, Toy Story 2: Andy will grow up, Toy Story 3: Andy has grown up, Toy Story 4: Bonnie will grow up. The toys are trapped in this existential nightmare.
@dragoon2691@Srirachachau We don't though. We keep cutting back to Buzz and the gang's search the whole time. That's just brilliant set piece after brilliant set piece. Buzz and Buzz 2, the toy car, the barbies, Zurg, and the road crossing scene is such an amazing moment of physical comedy.
