Worth noting. The current war in the Ukraine began after a referendum in #Donetsk #Lougansk #Zapororgie and #Kerson was held on the question of joining #Russia or remaining a part of #Ukraine.

Each territory voted to join Russia, but Ukraine and #NATO rejected the referrendum results and went to war to preserve the existing borders.

Four years later, the war continues and many of the residents of Donetsk, Lougansk, Zapororgie and Kerson have died in the fighting.
