Pakistan has been in illegal and forcible occupation of approximately 78,000 sq kms of Indian territory in Jammu and Kashmir. China continues to be in illegal occupation of approximately 38,000 sq kms in the Indian UT of Jammu and Kashmir. In addition, under the so-called ‘Sino-Pakistan Boundary Agreement of 1963`, Pakistan illegally ceded 5,180 sq kms of Indian territory in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir to China.

The above response was tabled on the floor of the Rajya Sabha on 22/11/2012, when UPA was still in power.

All of the above were lost as a consequence of Nehru’s delusional foreign policy, one which prioritised his own self image over national interest…

Nehru was so subservient to the Chinese that he even rejected the offer to include India in the UN Security Council. Here is what he said, “Suggestions have been made by the United States that India should take China's place in the Security Council. We cannot of course accept this as it means falling out with China and it would be very unfair for a great country like China not to be in the Security Council.”

In 2013, former foreign secretary and National Security Advisory Board chairman Shyam Saran submitted a report to the PMO in August 2013. Dr Manmohan Singh was still the Prime Minister.

As per the report:
1. China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) had "incrementally" occupied nearly 640 square km of area on the Line of Actual Control (LoAC) in Ladakh in 2013.
2. According to the report, patrolling limits set by incremental PLA area denial in eastern Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir had now become the de facto LoAC.
3. The resulting area denial was effectively a loss of 640 sq km across three sectors in Depsang, Chumar and Pangong Tso.
4. It also said that Indian troops were no longer able to access at least four points on the patrol line, thereby denying an area earlier accessible to them. Moreover, after PLA incursions in April and May of 2013, Depsang Bulge was no longer accessible to Indian forces.

But UPA failed to register a strong protest with the Chinese. They in fact tried to cover up their pusillanimity by indulging in hubris.

The nation still pays a horrific price for Congress misdeeds that started with Nehru and continued till Manmohan Singh.

Not an inch of Indian land has been lost since 2014. If at all, India has, for the first time, responded to any aggression on the boundary, with never seen before ferocity.
