On Saturday, September 19th, Jackson lost his life after courageously saving his sister from her kayak after it flipped over on Lake Norman in North Carolina.

Jackson was a 21 year old, third generation senior at North Carolina A&T State University where he was heavily involved in several organizations including being a Chatham-White Scholar, the North Carolina A&T Student Government Association’s Executive Treasurer for the 2025-26 school year, and a member of the Beta Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated.

Jackson was also the eldest brother to 7 of his siblings, whom his family said he loved deeply.

This is ridiculous! A father says he and his children were questioned and had the police called on them at a pool despite showing proof that they belonged there. No family should have to endure humiliation or fear while simply enjoying time together. Children should be making memories at the pool. Instead of shutting them down, Kansas City police officers and firefighters showed up to support them, helping them earn hundreds of dollars. This is what community should look like! And the President of the United States had to send federal marshals to escort a little Black girl into an elementary school because racist mobs were screaming they didn’t want integration.

People waved Confederate flags. Adults screamed at a child.
Parents pulled white kids out of school just because she walked through the door.

That is not ancient history. That happened in America within a lifetime. Ruby Bridges said she didn’t even know what the word “integrate” meant.

She was just trying to go to school.
