When COVID struck, the entire world including medical colleges in India and abroad shifted to online learning. FMGs followed the rules that existed at the time. After 6 years, why are only they being singled out to “compensate”? This feels inconsistent and discriminatory.

We also need stability. Rules changing in short term create unbearable stress on students who are already giving their all to become doctors. FMGs only seek fairness and a consistent policy that treats every future doctor equally. #FairRulesForFMGs

Today, representatives from AFA and @FordaIndia had a meeting with officials from the National Medical Commission (NMC). We discussed various issues related to Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) and presented our concerns to Dr. Vanikar mam and the NMC bench.
All our matters was heard properly and we got assurance regarding the same.
I really want to thank @FordaIndia on behalf of all Fmgs for helping us in this regard.

Formally submitted this letter to the National Medical Commission (@NMC_IND) regarding the recent notice, also requested that the period of internship be reduced to 1 year, and discussed various issues faced by Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs).

Hundreds of Kyrgyz people are on the streets, and they are ready to harm any foreigner they encounter. Some Pakistani students have lost their lives, and Indian students have also been beaten. The conflict initially started between Egyptian students and Kyrgyz locals but has now escalated to target Indians and Pakistanis. On a war footing now, a delegation representing #FMG interests met with officials at @NMC_IND today.

Key points raised:
• #Stipend for interns (currently none)
•Absorption of students into various teaching and non-teaching hospitals of states. (Currently there are waiting lists for starting internship!)
• Rethinking the merits and demerits of 3 year internship for a special batch of students.

Hoping for a positive response from the authorities.

#FMG have suffered and faced enormous challenges & discrimination. Some humanitarian approach is need of the hour.

Why are foreign medical graduates increasingly facing challenges? The National Medical Commission initially required a 2-year internship, but later introduced a 3-year internship. Now there are additional delays of 5-8 months by SMCs to initiate the internship.
Many state councils are facing a shortage of internship seats. Recently, the DMC(@GirishTyagiDMC) and other councils have suggested allowing non-teaching hospitals to accommodate more FMGs, but the @NMC_IND response is still pending.
We request to @NMC_IND @dryogendermalik kindly consider this serious concern and allow non teaching hospitals for internship .

The Supreme Court has issued an order directing all state councils to provide equal stipends to foreign medical graduates (FMGs). The court has also warned that failure to comply with these instructions will result in legal action.
Currently FMGs are required to complete 2-3 years of unpaid internship due to the impact of online classes during the pandemic and war, which was totally unavoidable situation.
We FMGs also request @OfficeOf_MM @mansukhmandviya @ianilradadiya kindly look into this matter closely and help FMGs regarding the same.
All state councils are requested to comply with Supreme Court order.
