Last Thursday, we at @Shoutout_UK had the privilege of hosting the launch of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Political and Media Literacy at the Houses of Parliament!
At a time when online misinformation and disinformation are having a profound impact on society, it has never been more urgent to equip young people with the skills to navigate the digital age! This APPG, which merges the previous APPGs on Political literacy and the one on Media Literacy, offers a cross-party platform to strengthen education and advocacy in these vital areas.
It was an honour to join Co-chairs @KirstySNP and Lord Lord Iain McNicol, along with @JamesWeinberg1 from the University of Sheffield, and other stakeholders in advocating for the inclusion of political and media literacy within our schools. At Shout Out UK, we’ve long recognised the gap in teaching these subjects, and the government’s upcoming curriculum review and beyond present a critical opportunity to make lasting change.
We’re excited to continue working with parliamentarians, educators, and organisations to ensure the next generation is empowered with the tools to be informed, critical-thinking citizens. Only the beginning...
