Thanks to Dr. Jay Buckey for being the first (of hopefully many) astronauts to join us on Spherical Cows!
Really enjoyable to listen to some fun hypotheticals and areas of future research especially in the field of autonomous diagnostics!

🧵 Thread for what I’m appreciating about medical school and how it uniquely challenges my friends with #ADHD.
Major Disclaimer Up-Front: I do not have ADHD. I’m just someone who loves brains 🧠 and have vetted this with friends who have ADHD.
When I describe DukeMed student life to students at other schools, I am consistently met with shock at how much we engage in extracurricular activities (sports, clubs, research, just time with friends).
I’m not sure if I’ve heard of a program with a better quality of life.

Last night we had the privilege of recording a new episode with @poppy_northcutt discussing her incredible career at NASA during the Apollo era working in flight dynamics and breaking barriers. Season 2 is going to be 🔥
Year in review for #SpaceMedicine.
We quadrupled our students up to 6,000
Nick and I started our podcast @Spherical_Cows and we debuted in the top science communication iTunes charts
I started studying and research @DukeMedSchool
Nick applied to a bunch of grad schools
You know, after editing hours of my own audio for @Spherical_Cows, these are my two biggest filler phrases:
1. “You know,…”
2. Repeating conjunctions
And, and, and it’s at this time that I would like publicly commit to stopping those vices.
I’m still working part time, recording podcasts for @Spherical_Cows, and working for @sedsusa while doing Med School full time and sometimes need to remind myself to just take it easy for a bit.
But I’m loving it!
Dr. Frank Rubio is headed to the International Space Station where he will be there with Dr. Kjell Lindgren, the current Space Station Commander. Two American physician astronauts highlighting #SpaceMed
@DominicTanzillo of the space medicine podcast Spherical Cows received a rare honor today when he got to apply a sticker to one of the hyperbaric chambers we use for research. Only project collaborators are invited! #SpaceMedicine
Attention #SpaceMed Twitter:
An international student of the Space Medicine course has just won a U.S. State Department Scholarship for a Master’s Program in Physiology!
She is looking to get all of her Pre-Med requirements done before applying to med schools.
It’s hilarious that when I tell people I have a course many folks say, “Nice.” But then, when I tell them I have a podcast, they get 100 times as excited and they say, “That’s amazing!”
Spherical Cows is also found on Amazon Music #gems617. We use @libsyn as our hosting service which makes is exceedingly easy to listen on all major platforms:
