@iDrawhomer@RedHarlock@meksmun@LootZii As this theme saw some seriously creative captures come in, we also had to award @DragonShout00 with top marks, too. Congrats!
I hold zero ill feelings towards ppl who choose to stay, that's their decision and and the end of the day, we want the same outcome.
However, my question still stands. Rare has a track record of doing absolutely fuck all when it comes to fixing the shit show thst is their CM team. Eventually there needs to reach a point of action otherwise all this outcry has been for nothing.
You can shine a light on a cockroach all day and inform everyone around that there is a cockroach, you can follow it, and you can continue to shine that light. But until someone decides to smack down and crush that cockroach with the heel of their boot, its going to continue scurrying around.
I don't trust rare atp to do the right thing. And I think it's wishful thinking to expect anything different now compared to the previous 1000 times they've have cm issues.

I have a question for all the people (partners and players) who are not currently boycotting the game rn. This isn't meant to be an attack but simply a constructive convo...
For those of you who are saying "we should wait for the internal investigation to finish" or "Its not fair for the devs who make the game" etc etc, a question I have for all of you is...
What are you going to do in the event that neither Jo or Shirah get removed from their position? Just keep playing the game like normal and continue to "speak out"?
Speak out for what exactly? Speaking out into the wind hoping what you have to say actually amounts to anything?
Speaking out by making a Twitter post, using a hash tag on twitch, making a comment in discord, writing a review on steam, etc.
Will that be what you do until this situation eventually fades away into obscurity and becomes the next "absurd" joke? Or do you have an actual plan for the outcome (which seems most likely rn) that this whole situation gets swept under the rug at rare.
I really truly want to understand what continuing to speak out actually does for this situation once the dust settles and nothing has been done.
I ask this from the position that over the past several years, Rare has failed time and time again to listen to feedback and adhere to what the broader community wants changed with the communications team.
Why will this situation be any different?

On the 9th of May, a victim of Bruno reached out to me. For the past 7 months Bruno has been manipulating an, at the time, 15yo into sharing explicit material. That this was allowed to go on for so long, despite the red flags, is absurd. #SeaofThieves 1/2

Genuine question @Noobface Plenty of people employed by rare continue to manage their platforms when a vast majority of the playerbase hate them and have for years (I can name several atp)
Why would this situation be any different? And to add on to that, over the past several years, where has the continuous outcry to get rid of these shitty cms actually accounted for?
Only time will tell ofc, but based on Rares previous inaction to restructure their community management team, i won't be giving them the benefit of the doubt and will continue feeling justified with my decision to boycott.
@Swishy_Sam The boycott will end when the cms involved are fired, if Rare allows a boycott to shut down the game and harm non involved team members all so they can protect Jo and Shirah then that's very indicative of where they stand.
(And in that instance, where they stand isn't with us)
The remaining Partners should have the guts to not stream this game during drops. If the CM isn't accountable for their mistakes on giving a pedo a platform, the game should suffer the consequences then.
Rare have failed time and time again to listen to their community and fix this issue. Over a year to do something about Bruno and several years to do something about Jo and Shirah.
This is the only way we the players can actually do anything meaningful. And this is how boycotts have ALWAYS worked
I just want to make it a point, that for those of you who are making posts asking for your cosmetics getting taken away, its only a performative gesture if you're still planning on showing up for the next #SeaOfThieves update, last ship standing next week.
Just like we need to hold Rare accountable, we need to hold eachother (the player base) accountable. Until we see actions made to right what was made wrong we the players should be hurting what actually matters and thats their profits and numbers. If you want to make a meaningful statement you will not show up for next week's update... or any future update until @RareLtd does the right thing. #NoShipsStanding
@OniosanS The developers still have a job, they still get paid and they still get to feed their families, this only affects the overall studio and Microsoft.
Controversy has erupted in the Sea of Thieves community after a player awarded a prestigious role by devs was accused of misconduct with minors
Many members of the game's partner program have quit and called for an explanation from Rare
He may be banned, but this is not over.
Bruno was elevated to Boatswain because certain individuals brought his name up to the Community Management team for promotion in the first place.
He was then further endorsed by various Boatswains, Mods, and Community Managers. Some of whom KNEW about Brunoโs inappropriate jokes and behavior toward a minor, yet still gave their approval without even looking into whether @HeSlashThem was fit to represent the Sea of Thieves community.
@j0toro, @Taaaaamas, and @mopwielder were aware of these concerns, but chose to dismiss them as โdramaโ while defending the situation with statements like โpeople can learn and growโ or โwe shouldnโt let bullies dictate which way we goโ
Framing concerns about inappropriate behavior toward a minor simply as โdramaโ while labeling those raising concerns about it as โnasty voicesโ is concrete proof that these people helping lead a major community like #SeaOfThieves, lack the experience and professionalism needed for their roles.
Again, to be abundantly clear, this is not directed at every Mod, Boatswain, or CM. This is directed at those who happen to be these, but have repeatedly shown poor judgment, awful behavior, and forever damaged the image of Sea of Thieves in the process.
The boatswain system needs to go. Elevating regular players into this strange in-between role, where they act as representatives of the game (while having friendships with members of Rareโs team) creates this super confusing and unhealthy dynamic that allows players to be in positions they don't need to be in in the first place.
Not everyone who speaks against you is a bad person, and not everyone who stands beside you is a good one. People raise concerns because they genuinely care about the game and its community. Others go along with the status quo simply to stay close to Rare, maintain influence, or protect their position. That behavior needs to end. Immediately.
So, until the Community Managers and Mods involved step down from their roles at @RareLtd & @SeaOfThieves, I cannot view this community as the safe and welcoming space it once was.
Make your voices known. Unapologetically stand up to this behavior.
If there are more victims of Bruno, please reach out to the authorities.
If you don't want to speak publicly but still want to tell your story, I can arrange an annonymous chat, you are free to DM me via Discord, you can use alt account.
SoT community stands with you.
.@ChappersChapman Many of us (myself included) were definitely expecting a little more today
And from what you said in the previous podcast, it seemed like those expectations were set based on what you said here.
Could you give us some feedback on what changed?
