In what was overall a gloomy year for democracy, NZ became more democratic and trailed only Norway in the Economist Intelligence Unit Democracy Index. https://t.co/iyKCLTnvc1

Speaking with wonderful @hallmum5 tonight across the globe we realised there is work to be done on materialising how spirituality manifests in midwifery curricula - one thing to get into policies and standards - another to get into proactive educational process @SusanCrowtherMW
Good to see this get published. Spirituality and childbirth: An international virtual co–operative inquiry - @AUTuni @AUTSoCS @hallmum5 it’s been quite a journey! https://t.co/62bUnOchbE
This was such a special heart filled day. The NZ appreciation of diversity & honouring of spirit in midwifery is a huge reason I returned to @NZmidwives & @AUTSoCS Ritual & Being together awakens the sacred in what and how we do everything in midwifery. @SpiritBirthBook
A powerful critique of modern mothering in the fragmented healthcare system. We can do better than this. Continuity of midwifery care is the best way of reorienting maternity care and respecting/honouring the momentous process of childbearing

Why is a young ObGyn at a midwifery unit conference? Because #birthmatters, reducing unnecessary interventions + being able to appropriate intervene when necessary is a public health issue & the only way forward is collaboration btw docs, midwives and women. #munet2019
@hallmum5 @SagefemmeSB @luciagreenwich Yes, it’s interesting how spiritual is often conflated into psychosocial and emotional experiences and needs. Yet it is another layer of our existential experience that brings meaning and highlights our individual and shared purpose to all other aspects of childbirth #spiritbirth
Imagine thinking differently and bringing joy & celebration into the birthing room - leave fear outside- bring sensitivity, calmness & tactful practices at each birth #spiritbirth ponder spirituality and childbirth - what does that mean to you?
@hallmum5 @SpiritBirthBook Indeed, in a world increasingly aware of the issues created by lack of holistic perspectives a focus on the interconnected ecology of childbirth care & systems is paramount lest we forget & lose something precious in our blind pursuit of technocratic & fragmentary solutions
Yay! Look what came in the post🙏🏼 #joyatbirth so satisfying to see & feel the actual book after such a long labour @AUTSoCS @RGUNandM @SagefemmeSB @TPM_Journal @CouperJudith @vwstclair @hallmum5 @lornamidwife Joy!
