@buckweaver It's wild, especially as we're living in an era where its theoretically easier to archive. A shame pubs haven't made preservation more important. Newspapers offer a great gateway to the past & I certainly worry that future researchers won't be able to access modern content easily

@buckweaver Something like only 15% of the entire history of US newspapers has been preserved in archives & less than 2% has been digitized. It's pretty tragic. (Those stats come from "Future-Proofing the News" which is a great read for anyone interested in news preservation)

@dandalyonsports Joyce apparently claimed the fact that he hit Richter with the helmet was an accident--he intended to *only* punch him with his fist. Joyce also alleged that Richter was trying to injure him "to get [him] out of the game."
