A number of people doubted the capacity of the contractor behind the construction of Akii-Bua Olympic Stadium in Lira City to deliver the project but the way things are moving right now, it seems we are heading in the right direction.

The most common question asked by Ugandans online was whether SAMCO can actually construct this sports facility as it is reflected in the artistic impressions. I don’t have the capacity and authority to respond that but we need to trust the process because great things take time.

Other people were wondering if the stadium will be able to meet the guidelines of CAF and International standards generally. Well as i am not an expert in that area, i strongly believe that this criteria will also be met.

The Laws of the Game 2026/27 officially take effect from 1 July 2026. Competitions starting before that date may implement the changes earlier or delay their implementation until no later than the start of the next competition.

Jurriën Timber misses the 2026 World Cup.

The 24-year-old defender has not recovered sufficiently from a groin injury to take part in the World Cup in a medically responsible manner. In consultation with the medical staff, it has therefore been decided that Timber will leave the national team’s pre-camp in New York after the game against Uzbekistan.
