I can understand why some experts feel their own field is the most important in the Lucy Letby case but imo you need failures in ALL of:
Statistics
Obstetrics
Biochemistry
Neonatology
Psychology
Policing and
Law
to explain the catastrophe.
(and likely more)
I could write jokes for 800 years and I'd never think of something funnier than Trump booking the Four Seasons for his big presser, and it turning out to be the Four Seasons Total Landscaping parking lot between a dildo store and a crematorium.
I understand Public Health England should have been called in to do an independent investigation after the three deaths in the space of two weeks in June 2015 which constituted a statistically very significant spike.
The consultant paediatricians did not call for this. Why was this?
Because the third baby, Baby D, died as a result of their negligence and the first two (who should not have been born at Level 2 CoCH) as a result of extremely poor care.
Neonatal lead Stephen Brearey must have been poo'ing his pants, particularly as the deaths came so soon after his team's negligence in relation to baby Noah Robinson. He would have known his career was over as he knew it if PHE had been called in and exposed the truth as it obviously would have.

Tim Snyder on billionaires leaving the US if taxed: "If they're not paying taxes anyway, it doesn't matter, right? Let them go plague some other country... if they're not going to pay taxes here, let them not pay taxes somewhere else, because it is actually no loss."
@CarlBovisNature I usually zoom in to your posted images. This time I was rewarded by something that looks like a painting. There seem to be little defects over the bird. Maybe compression artifacts? I think it's characterful.
BREAKING NEWS: Sources tell me the Justice Department is looking closely at @MeidasTouch Network, and the questions go beyond its former PAC.
I’m told DOJ is looking at who donated to the PAC, how it raised and spent that money, and who provided information for some of the network’s stories about Donald Trump.
Stay tuned. More to follow.
Ok, I didn’t expect a story time on Saturday, but here we go. What I’m about to write is TRUE. It is insane, stupid, and very dumb, but it is true. Earlier today Donald J Trump, the p[resident of the United States, posted that he had offered the job of Press Secretary to Dana White. Well, it was the wrong Dana White… 🧵
On Thursday I wrote about the 2014 injunction Russell Brand obtained against a woman who accused him of assault.
I've now obtained the final order. It's breathtaking.
She had no lawyer. No trial. Yet she was silenced for life - even barred from speaking to the police.
🧵:
@doctorcaldwell I wonder, were Brearey and Jayaram paid for their efforts in searching for wrongdoing in the medical notes after the investigation had started?
It seems an unusual hobby.
@CliveWismayer@DebRoberts22249 We do now have some information about the spending of the prosecution and the defencei in the Letby case. I've submitted a new FOI to try and find out how much of the defence's legal aid was spent on expert witnesses. https://t.co/fu3J9Fwhkc
That’s very helpful, thx.
A senior solicitor working on a Very High Cost case (like Letby) earns £117 ph. If she goes to court to attend the trial it’s £34 ph. That is peanuts. In private practise my highest rate was £360 ph & that’s 8 years ago. A senior City or West End sol would be charging at least twice as much.
Legal aid rates have been pared down so much there are legal aid ‘deserts’ across large swathes of the country where no one offers a legal aid service.
The idea that the Legal Aid Agency’s fanatical parsimony had no bearing on this case is absurd. Just consider: Letby called NO expert evidence. IN THIS CASE FFS! Yet we KNOW there are plenty of experts out there willing to challenge the prosecution narrative.
My favoured theory is the solicitors didn’t put enough into it and/or their hands were tied by the LAA. I’ve been there. I have the T-shirt.
@stugoo17 I think it important to notice that many lawyers acted for the PO prosecuting innocent subpostmasters where no crime existed, and many judges went along with it.
It's not just one bad apple. There are many superb and ethical lawyers too.
