The Fiscal Council has just published its Flash Release on Budget 2027. Here are the key takeaways:
Budget 2027 puts the public finances on a worse trajectory by repeatedly breaking established spending limits and increasingly relying on high-risk corporation tax.
@TaddyFPL I agree. I captained him the 1st week against Coventry as I didn't think Haaland was fully fit after the world cup. I got jammy that he got an assist against Coventry also, nothing wrong with playing it safe. 🤷♂️
@Ben_Scallan@griptmedia Not only is the USC still in existence it is taking about 1.6 billion more from workers than it did in 2016 (when they pledged to abolish it). 5.6 billion vs 4 billion.
@MattTreacy111 20 years ago, there was no USC, no carbon tax, no property tax, no bank levy, no remote betting duty and all these taxes were at a lower rate: VAT, CGT,DIRT, CAT. The state also didn't own the M50 nor any get revenue from the port tunnel as it wasn't finished. 🤷♂️
@KarlBrophy Yep. After the 98 halving of the capital gains tax rate, CGT revenue boomed. The laffer curve is not complicated 🤷♂️. https://t.co/LnZx9uztd4
