“Launch is access to space and if you don’t have access to space, everything else is irrelevant.”
Peter Beck joins @edels0n to talk about what it means to be an end-to-end space company, the biggest challenges in space that need solving, and what the industry will look like over the next decade.

Rocket Lab 🤝 Mars
From orbiters and landers to rovers and helicopters – our technology has enabled some of the most ambitious Mars missions in history.
With Motiv (creators of Perseverance's robotic arm) now part of Rocket Lab, we're one of the few companies capable of delivering complete Mars mission solutions, including launch + spacecraft + software, and now proven robotics for surface and orbital operations too.
We have officially acquired Motiv Space Systems.
Motiv – now Rocket Lab Robotics – brings mission-tested Mars heritage with advanced multi-degree of freedom robotic arms, actuators, and drive electronics that have enabled some of the most ambitious planetary exploration missions in history, including NASA's Mars Perseverance rover.
We're now one of few companies in the world capable of delivering end-to-end Mars mission solutions including launch, spacecraft, software, and proven robotics for surface and on-orbit operations. This unique capability positions us to lead programs like Mars Sample Return mission and the Mars Telecommunications Network.
It’s imperative that we revert to STANDARD, not Daylight time, for two reasons, one of which you may have never considered.
You know the first: solar noon is closest to 12 o’clock all year. That means an equal number of hours before and after noon each day.
This also means earlier sunrises which are significantly better for establishing a healthy circadian rhythm.
The second reason is that nearly ONE THIRD of US counties are in the wrong timezone.
A significant swath of the country isn’t only an artificial hour ahead because of daylight time… but TWO HOURS ahead of true solar time.
Year-round daylight time, especially without recalibrating time zones, would establish this error permanently, affecting millions of Americans.
We should be letting the Sun dictate the day the way God made it. Arbitrary, artificial tampering would be worse for us all.
Fix the time zones and affix standard time.
Electron is vertical on the launch pad for 'Viva La StriX' and @synspective. ~3 hours until liftoff! 🚀
Launch window opens:
🚀 9:30 pm NZT
🚀 09:30 UTC
🚀 6:30 pm JST
🚀 5:30 am EDT
🚀 2:30 am PDT
Constellation deployment made simple with Electron: frequent launches, proven reliability, and precision on orbit 🛰️✨
Mission success once again for @synspective on Electron's 88th launch. Nine missions complete and 18 more to go to finish Synspective's SAR constellation by 2030.
Rocket Lab has been awarded a $90 million contract by the @USSpaceForce’s Space Systems Command @USSF_SSC to design, manufacture, integrate, and operate two geostationary satellites hosting the Heimdall space domain awareness payload produced by Rocket Lab Optical Systems.
Rocket Lab components have long played an essential role in many GEO programs, but this is our first satellite production program for geostationary orbit. The two satellites will be built on our Lightning bus, adapted for the thermal, radiation, propulsion, and station-keeping demands of GEO.
We're LOX'd and Loaded for LOXSAT❄️Our spacecraft carrying @eta_space's payload will launch on Electron later this year to test out cryo fuel storage and management in low Earth orbit - aka gas station technologies in space⛽
By providing both the spacecraft and the launch for this mission, that's streamlined access to space in action for @eta_space and @NASA_Marshall.
Rocket Lab and Raytheon have been selected to demonstrate advanced capabilities for the Space Based Interceptor program.
The program is an important step in strengthening national missile defense capabilities and we stand ready to deliver.
It's all gas no breaks with Archimedes engine testing at @NASAStennis. Full duration burns with TVC motions across the full conical sweep, vacuum engine hot fires, and both Archimedes test cells in operation all day every day. Archimedes is coming 🔥
🚨 Acquisition Alert: We're welcoming Motiv Space Systems to the Rocket Lab team.
Motiv is renowned for its advanced robotic arms, actuators, and drive electronics that have enabled some of the most ambitious missions, including NASA’s Mars Perseverance rover.
Motiv will also bring in-house critical spacecraft mechanisms such as solar array drive assemblies, antenna and propulsion gimbals, filter wheels, focus mechanisms, and precision drive electronics, completing another key element of our strategy to manufacture satellites at constellation scale
We're partnering with @anduriltech to deliver commercial speed and innovation to hypersonics tech development for the @deptofwar.
With Anduril tech on multiple HASTE launches, we're working together to deliver Mach 5 capabilities and beyond for future defense missions.
First mission launching within 12 months.
We've signed the largest launch contract in Rocket Lab history: 5x Neutron launches and 3x Electron launches across LC-1 and LC-3 from now through to 2029.
With Neutron's manifest filling up fast through to the end of the decade, the demand signal is clear: the market needs medium launch and assured access to space. We're ready to deliver with Neutron.
