Wemby on Spurs scoring only 30 points in second half: “We stopped moving the ball, stopped executing.”
He said they must “hold each other accountable” for the epic collapse but be careful “not to point fingers.”
Tough lesson to learn in a season full of them for these young, ascending Spurs. You wonder whether this one might’ve broken them for this series. Don’t think so. But this was definitely one of those kinds of losses.
Spurs guard Dylan Harper: “Shock, but there’s a whole lot more basketball to be played. After this is over, I’m going to take a shower, wash it off, and go get ready for Game 5.”
Spurs fell victim to what plagued them all season - building and then losing big leads after missing multiple 3-pointers early in the shot clock. For the most part, Spurs overcame those blown leads to win, but tougher to do in the pressure of NBA Finals against a veteran team.
Victor Wembanyama is just the fifth player in NBA history to have 500+ points and 200+ rebounds with more than 35 three-pointers in a single Postseason.
LeBron James, Kawhi Leonard, Luka Doncic, Jayson Tatum and now Wembanyama.
