It means age-appropriate skills like having enough language to be able to ask for help, play with friends, use the toilet, get their coat on, use cutlery, have enough focus to listen to a story, and follow simple instructions.

@MaertensDanny@miriam_cates@GBNEWS I do agree, but at four years old they enter reception, which follows the play-based EYFS curriculum. If we started school at 6/7, I fear we’d still have children unable to use the toilet, have an articulate conversation, or hold cutlery properly.
