இன்றைய தினம் நமது கிருஷ்ணகிரி சுற்றுப்பயணத்தின் ஒரு நிகழ்வாக தேன்கனிக்கோட்டையை அடுத்த, கக்கதாசம் ஊராட்சியில் இருக்கும் ஆரம்ப சுகாதார நிலையத்தை பார்வையிட்டு ஆய்வு செய்தோம்.

22 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பு 2004 ஆம் ஆண்டு இதே கிராமத்தில் அரசு ஆரம்ப சுகாதார நிலையத்தில் மருத்துவராக பணியில் சேர்ந்தோம். நாம் பணியாற்றிய காலங்கள் மனதுக்குள் அழகாய் விரிந்தன.

அப்பகுதி மக்கள் இன்றும் அதே அன்போடு வரவேற்றனர். இன்றும் பணியில் இருக்கும் என்னுடைய கடந்த கால சக பணியாளர்களை பல வருடங்கள் கழித்து சந்தித்தது மிகுந்த மகிழ்ச்சியை ஏற்படுத்தியது.

இக்கிராமத்தில் உணவு விடுதி போன்ற வசதிகள் இல்லாத காலகட்டத்தில் ஐந்தரை ஆண்டுகள் இக்கிராமத்திலேயே தங்கி ( Medical officers quarters) சேவை செய்தது இன்றளவும் மனநிறைவு கொள்ள செய்கிறது.

அடித்தட்டு மக்களுக்கு சேவை செய்வது ஒன்றுதான் நமது லட்சியம். அந்த வகையில் கிராமத்து மக்களின் தேவைகள் மற்றும் அவர்களின் வலிகளை புரிந்துகொள்ள இக்காலக்கட்டம் பெரும் உதவியாக இருந்தது என்று சொன்னால் அது மிகை ஆகாது. நிச்சயம் நாம் தொடர்ந்து மக்களுக்கு உண்மையாகவும் நேர்மையாகவும் தொண்டாற்றுவோம்.
நம்முடைய வருகையை நினைவுபடுத்தும் வகையில் மரக்கன்று நட்டோம்.
இந்த அரும்பெரும் வாய்ப்பினை அளித்த காலத்துக்கும், நமது மாண்புமிகு முதலமைச்சர் அவர்களுக்கும் மனதார நன்றி செலுத்திக்கொண்டோம்.

DMK and some DMK supporting journalists are producing this random piece of document and calling Parandur as a “least damaged site” as quoted by journalist Vijaiyan of Puthiya Thalaimurai .

But I just wish that they had taken a look at this piece of document before posting it on social media platforms.

As the document is primarily an airport feasibility/site-selection comparison and not an environmental-impact assessment as claimed .

This document compares Parandur with Pannur ,two chosen sites for the airport and says that Parandur offers more land, substantially lower land cost, less displaced families( Pannur -1000 and Parandur 1500), better connectivity and fewer obstacles to airport operations, while also allowing easier future expansion.

There is no environmental assessment in this document that many of the natives and the activists were concerned about.

Let me list the concerns

1. 26.54% of the proposed 5,369-acre airport area — consisted of water bodies according to the environmental assessment. Two natural water channels also run through/near the site, including Nelvoy Eri and the Parandur lake system.

2. The project area was predominantly agricultural land and water bodies. The EAC records cited 47% irrigated agricultural land, 16% dry agricultural land and 27% water bodies which is roughly 90% agriculture + water bodies.

4.Since Parandur is part of a larger drainage/catchment system, environmental authorities specifically required a catchment-level hydrological assessment. Environmental groups argued that filling or altering water bodies could interfere with natural drainage and increase flood risks downstream. Which was not done by DMK .

5. The proposed project was expected to involve cutting more than 36,635 trees, prompting the Environment Ministry’s appraisal committee to require a detailed tree-cutting and reforestation plan. Which was not done by DMK.

6.The EAC specifically required a detailed assessment of affected wetlands and an NOC from the State Wetland Authority. This is not available.

7. More than 1,000 families were expected to be affected, meaning the environmental question also overlaps heavily with agricultural livelihoods and displacement.

In fact, the Environment Ministry’s Expert Appraisal Committee had only recommended/issued the Terms of Reference for preparing the EIA in 2024. The final Environmental Impact Assessment and Environmental Clearance had not been completed by DMK until now .

I just have one thing to say .

If you don’t have the proof ,just keep silent .

Don’t bully others with stupid one page non related documents.

What @FelixGerald_TVK spoke about in the debate was right .

@CMOTamilnadu has done what is best for the people and the land .
