The Tragic Lynching of Madhu: A Dark Stain on Kerala Society

Have you heard of the name Madhu or Attappadi Madhu? I am sure most of you who are reading this have not heard this name before. This is his heart-wrenching story.

Madhu was a tribal youth hailing from Attappadi, a tribal taluk in Kerala. He was mentally challenged and used to live away from his parents in a cave in Attappadi. On February 22nd, 2018, a group of people caught him from his cave on suspicion of stealing rice. They accused him of regularly stealing rice from stores in the vicinity. They then stripped him of his dhoti, tied his hands, and beat him up. While some of the men kicked and beat him, others recorded the brutality on their mobile phones, and still others watched silently. It is said that he was also made to walk 3 kilometers before the police arrived on the scene. Madhu was so badly beaten and lynched that the police had to take him straight to the nearby hospital. He was declared dead on arrival at the hospital. He was only 30 years old when his life was snatched away by a group of vigilantes.

The video and images of this innocent and helpless man shook the conscience of Kerala society. The look on his face is something that nobody can easily forget. Madhu's lynching resulted in widespread outrage, and the police swung into action, arresting 16 persons who were allegedly involved in the gruesome lynching.

Although the episode was recorded on video, it took another 4 years for the case trial to begin. Finally, on April 5th, 2023, the Special Court for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe found 14 of the 16 accused guilty, including the first accused Hussain and the second accused Marikar. According to a report in India Today, it was Hussain who caught Madhu from his cave and forcefully brought him to Attappadi town, accusing him of stealing from his shop. According to the prosecution, as reported by the New Indian Express, it was Hussain who kicked Madhu in his chest, causing him to hit his head on a temple hundi box, which resulted in a serious head injury as per the autopsy report. During the trial, there were attempts made to influence witnesses. OnManorama reported that out of 127 witnesses, 24 turned hostile one by one.

Thirteen of the 14 accused have now been sentenced to 7 years of rigorous imprisonment. Kerala media celebrated the verdict, saying that justice has been delivered.

Justice may or may not have been delivered. However, it's difficult to comprehend how someone could do this to another living being, and in this case, a helpless mentally challenged fellow human being. Nobody with even a bit of conscience will be able to forget the helpless face of Madhu.

Just to put things in perspective, imagine if this had happened in Uttar Pradesh. The lynching would have made international headlines. Left-liberals and intellectuals within India and abroad would have decried the brutality faced by the downtrodden and minority under the current central government. However, Madhu was a tribal from the most “literate”, “educated”, and “liberal” Kerala society, a society loved by the left-liberals and intellectuals in the country. Furthermore, most of the accused belong to a certain community, a community that these intellectuals have made efforts to portray as oppressed by the majority.

I really do wish and pray that humans become more conscious and compassionate not just towards other humans, but towards all other beings on this planet. There should be no room for individuals like the ones who lynched Madhu in any society. I really do hope that Madhu is finally able to move on.

A false narrative has been spread on Twitter that Brahmins from Maharashtra denied to perform Coronation Ceremony of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Different historians who have documented facts based on Chitnis Bakhar, says that Gaga Bhat was identified as the most learned Brahmin with extensive knowledge of Vedas, Yogas, Upanishadhs to perform the Coronation Ceremony.

Chatrapati sent representatives to consult Rajasri Gaga Bhat ji. To which Gaga Bhat agreed that Shivaji Maharaj should be coronated as Chatrapati with Vedic methods. For the Coronation Ceremony 50,000 Brahmins who were scholars in Vedas assembled. Those Brahmins were from Maharashtra & from different provinces. Gaga Bhat was appointed as the Chief Priest.

50,000 Brahmins had read Vedas for Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj but still the false narrative has been purposely planted on social media to fuel fire between Maratha & Brahmin community, for their political benefits.

The boy might have done quick assessment that the scared man is not participating in the riot. So it's unlikely he would retaliate. And then he is surrounded by his side of angry men. The boy knew it is his moment. He setup his mind, approached, took a firm stance and hit the man at the right time with all his energy. Absolutely fearless. It could be his first hit in the riots. He must be feeling proud of his debut performance. He has now a story to tell his friends. Just in case if he got arrested in the crowd, Barkha Dutt will tell us who is his father, a tailor or a carpenter. The Wire will do a story with title of his probable sweet nick name- Monu or Golu. Rajdeep will enlighten us why riots happened in West Bengal but not in M.P. and how coming election put the stick in Monu or Golu's hand. Alt News will peove how its an entire setup to frame the kid. Madam CM will let us know why it is always a probability to be hit by if you enters the riot area. Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind may dial few numbers and that's it. With two or three more such successful hits, his confidence will boost up and he would be able to take bigger tasks. In the coming riot seasons, the boy should be able to throw a lethally heavy stone at a decent distance or may try his hand on other toys. The vicious cycle will go on!

Speaking Up for Kerala Hindu Pride: The Story of Sujaya Parvathy

Sujaya Parvathy is the name that has been trending on Kerala social media circles for the past two days. She is a senior Malayali journalist and a familiar face among Malayalis worldwide. So why is she trending?

On March 8th, Sujaya addressed a women's conference organized by the Sangh Parivar-affiliated trade union BMS (Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh) in connection with International Women's Day. In a left-dominated state where even a devout Hindu is looked upon as a "Sanghi", this was a gross mistake. To make things worse, she praised the work of the central government under Narendra Modi in her speech. She also mentioned that several people questioned her about her decision to attend that event, with some even asking her if she was a "Sanghi". She continued in her speech, saying that if attending a BMS event makes her a Sanghi, then so be it!

A day later, she was suspended by her employer 24 News. The irony is that the CEO of 24 News, Mr Srikantan Nair, has in the past attended events organized by CITU and other communist-affiliated organizations. "Fascism" is a term used by Communists wherever possible to throw mud at nationalists. However, this is something that's practiced and perfected by Communists, and it was clearly demonstrated in this instance.

Her suspension was met with shock and anger. Soon, protest marches were organized by BMS to the head office of 24 News. It is also said that Gokulam Gopalan, one of the main shareholders of 24 News, did not approve of her suspension. A few days later, Sujaya attended another public event where she reiterated that she stood by what she said in the first meeting that ended in her suspension.

The management of 24 News eventually gave in to pressure from various quarters and decided to revoke her suspension. Sujaya rejoined on March 29th. As if she wanted to send a message, she wore a saffron costume in her first news broadcast after rejoining. And in true movie style, she sent in her resignation to 24 News that same night.

Sujaya has made it clear that she will stay in the media field, although she hasn't spelled out her plans clearly. In a state where Communists make it their pastime to hurt and dent Hindu pride by interfering in temples and in the Hindu way of life, and where Hindus feel cornered in every possible way, Sujaya Parvathy is a true inspiration and a shining example of how Hindus must stand firm against Communist fascism and speak up for what matters the most to them. Kerala Hindus are proud of you, Sujaya Parvathy!
