Years ago each sivan temple in Thanjavur Jilla had a dedicated Kurukkal. They lived in Agraharam,took care of the presiding deity, did nithyapadi poojai, 4 kala poojai,6 kaala poojai,as the case may be.
Each Vaishnava temple had a dedicated Archagar. They followed the agamam,performed thirumanajanam on Thirunakshathram etc., Mahasamprokshanam,Samvathsaram were done as per the tradition.
Over the years,due to many reasons, the situation has changed.
Today in and around Kumbakonam,Thanjavur side you have one Kurukkal servicing 6,7 or even 8 temples.
The impact is two ways.
1. In order to sustain a living the Kurukkal has to accept,serve all of those temples
2. The Dharma Karthas have sought the support of Kurukkal to perform oru kaala poojai atleast.

Just think about 10 -12 years down the line.

Why is that Archagars,Sivacharyals,Kurukkals,Bhattars are the deprived lot?

One Sivacharyal in Vadapathimangalam cycles at his old age to go to the temple. Widower,has a daughter who is widow ( with her daughter )

Another Archagar in Pancharamashethram,has a metal plate in his left leg,still performs his daily poojai in Ramar Koil.

Another Kurukkal,despite Asthma problem ( wheezing ) in Sithanvazhoor continues his Koil poojai living in the same Agraharam.
Another Kurukkal says he is getting monthly Rs.62..from the TN Government in Alagaputhur,Near Nachiarkoil.

The Kurukkal in Sethanipuram Sivan koil writes about his wife 's insulin,medical needs every month,seeks support.

The Kurukkal in Thirukarukudi receives Paddy yearly once..he is my friend.

The Kurukkal in Masilamaneeswarar koil,Kadichambadi gets paddy.

....the Kurukkal's case in Avalivanaloor sivan koil is the same case.

The Kurukkal in Padagacheri sivan koil survives ( his sister and he )because of his Karnataka Government hotel pension..not getting any support other than the tea,coffee,dosa,food from his neighborhood. In Padagacheri,swami Neivedhyam is from other community lady.

All the above information is verified.

Aren't we here to deepdive into this sad state of affairs?

Devotees go to Sringeri Saradha Peetam,Kanchi Kamkoti Peetam,TTD Dewaswom,Guruvayur Dewaswom and Sabarimalai Dewaswom and pour money,give cheques for 40L,50L, give cash,kind,jewels..what not..
It is fine.
You continue to make those matams richer and richer.

But look at this too.

In Thanjavur,Kumbakonam side,many temples in micro interior villages don't get oil to light lamps.
No salary. They say they are doing the service without getting anything.
e.g., Keezha Sooriya moolai temple. The Kurukkal is coming from Tiruloki for morning poojai.
No rice from the temple property to prepare Neivedhyam. The priests are Not able to afford a minimum living.
Plenty of Temple priests,Temples are not receiving adequate support from anyone. It has been ages since they received monetary support.
No medical attention for their wives,children.
Living in pathetic condition.
Who will take care of them,those temples?

Our coimbatore Veda Ghosham students stick to their resolve of doing Sandhyavandanam as a group at temples each Saturday.

Last Saturday they performed Samashti Sandhyavandanam at Sri Kamakshi Amman temple. Before Sandhyavandanam they chanted various stotrams and ashtakam.
The temple manager Sri Padmanabhan and Sri Sekar enquired about Veda Ghosham activities and Palasha Dandam carried by Sri Narayanan which he is carrying after his Upakarma in chennai being Brahmachari as per shastras

I contemplate upon Lord Shiva,
whose radiance is pure and transparent like a flawless crystal - untouched, all-pervading, and beyond impurity.
He is the Three-Eyed One, seeing the past, present, and future; the Soorya, Chandra, and Agni themselves are His eyes.

He manifests through five divine faces, representing the five cosmic functions - creation, preservation, dissolution, concealment, and grace.

He bears the sacred river Ganga upon His head, signifying the flow of divine knowledge descending to the world.

With ten mighty arms, He possesses infinite powers and capacities to protect and govern the cosmos.

He is adorned with celestial ornaments, for all beauty and glory arise from Him alone.

He is the Neelakanta - His throat is blue from containing the deadly poison to protect creation, revealing His boundless compassion and sacrifice.

The crescent moon shines upon Him, symbolizing mastery over time and the waxing and waning cycles of existence.
Serpents rest upon Him as sacred ornaments, showing His complete conquest over fear, death, and primal energies.

Clad in tiger skin, He stands beyond worldly instincts and animal passions.

He grants fearlessness to devotees and blesses them with spiritual upliftment.

Holding the kamaṇḍalu and rosary, He is the supreme ascetic and eternal yogi; bearing the trident, He destroys ego, ignorance, and bondage.

His matted locks blaze with spiritual brilliance, radiating tapas and divine energy in all directions.

Mounted upon the sacred bull Nandi - the embodiment of Dharma - He governs the universe through righteousness.
He shares His very form with Uma as Ardhanarishvara, revealing that Shiva and Shakti, consciousness and energy, are eternally one and inseparable.
Bathed in the nectar of immortality, He remains ever serene, complete, and blissful.

The guardians of all directions surround Him, while devas and asuras alike bow before Him, for He transcends all divisions.

He is eternal, changeless, pure, imperishable, and all-pervading - the supreme Īśāna, the cosmic Rudra whose very body is the universe itself.

Meditating upon Him in this manner, one becomes inwardly purified and fit to begin the sacred chanting of Sri Rudram.

📚 Continuing #Shastra series on Shantis, Vedic rites to ward off small problems- from failures in life, trouble to parents, relatives & even upto death, we tell you about #NakshtraGandantaShanti if you are born in the conjunction of certain Nakshatras.

Explanation ⭐ Nakshatra Gandanta ⛓️‍💥

Each ⭐ Nakshatra prevails over 24 hours approx in a day. When one nakshatra's prevalence ends, the other starts. Each prevailing Nakshatra of a particular day considering it spans for 24 hours, is divided into 4 parts spanning 6 hours each, which is called as Nakshatra pada. So let us say if you are born on a day when Rohini Nakshatra ⭐ has begun from 6.00am, then 6.00am to 12.00 noon is Rohini Nakshatra's 1st Pada, 12.00noon to 6.00pm is 2nd pada and so on for the subsequent 3rd & 4th pada. So if you are born in Rohini Nakshatra day at 3.00pm, your janma nakshatra is of course Rohini and the pada is 2nd⭐

Shastra says if you are born in the final 96 minutes of the last pada (4th) of a certain Nakshatras and in the first 96 mins (1st pada) of the subsequent Nakshatra, you need a shanti 🙌🏼 . This last 96 mins of 4th pada & start of 96 mins of 1st pada of certain pairs of Nakshatras are called "Nakshatra Gandantam" ⛓️‍💥 which needs shanti. Below is the list of such combination of nakshatra, in whose last pada (4th) last 96mins or beginning pada (1st) 96mins of next nakshatra you are born you need a "Nakshatra Gandanta Shanti"⛓️‍💥

1. Revati 4th Pada last 96 mins & Ashwini Nakshatra 1st Pada first 96mins⭐
2. Ashlesha 4th Pada last 96 mins & Magha Nakshatra 1st Pada first 96 mins⭐
3. Jyeshta 4th Pada last 96 mins and Mula Nakshatra 1st Pada first 96 mins ⭐

Nakshatra Gandanta Shanti is recommended only for the above 3 pairs not for others.

Tarpana is offered in amavasya with water & Tila (sesame seeds) because in pitru loka it is lunch time for them. 1 human month is 1 day+night for Pitrus in their world. Our amavasya coincides with their noon time

At 6.29 am IST, tomorrow Friday, May 15, Soorya Bhagawan will transit from Mesha Rashi to Vrishabha Rashi (from Tamil month Chithirai/ சித்திரை to Vaigaasi/ வைகாசி). This movement is called Sankramana. Such a Sankramana happens once every ~30 days.

Padma Purana says that the above are the some of the Doshas that get absolved or washed away by observing Vrata Anushtana on this glorious 'Apara Ekadashi' today. The Ekadashi Vrata anushtana acts as the Prayaschitta parihara for these Doshas or sins and brings prosperity.
