Given the current state of the country, you cannot blame any reformer from wondering whether all the efforts have been worthwhile and whether there is any hope for the future.

Then 9 years after the MDGs Conditional Grants Scheme ended, I was invited to receive an ‘Outstanding Contribution Award’, along with the UN Deputy Secretary General @AminaJMohammed, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria @Dattijo, Dr @DrIshiyaku, @FunkeBaruwa and 18 others that contributed to what was recognised internationally, at the time, as one of the most successful conditional grants schemes in the world.

Reflecting on what we did, how we did it and the lives we improved, it is clear to me yet again that we must keep going until our country improves or God calls us. No retreat, no surrender.
