Year 7s are visiting the National Space Centre this week. Today half the year group enjoyed a talk in the planetarium, workshops to design their own rocket and free time around the centre. The other half of the year visits on Wednesday. @StIvoScience
A selection of Year 12s have today enjoyed the @BabrahamInst 25th School Day, a day of talks and experiments in exceptionally well equipped labs. This follows a kind visit from Michael, Rachel and Elena to speak to Year 12 about Scientific Posters.

The @KeeleUniversity#Astrophysics Research Experience week is taking place 8-12 July 2019. The project is aimed at Y10, Y11 & Y12 students with a keen interest in STEM & who are considering going on to study science at university. Deadline 25 Feb! Message me for application form
This is from the lesson B1f Testing foods covering the specification points: Describe how to test for starch, reducing sugars, lipids and proteins in food
7-minute Separate Science Challenge (Triple only)Create a quick table for each food test listing 1) Name of the test, 2) any chemicals needed, 3) positive result and 4) negative result. #edexcelscience#gcsescience
This is from the lesson P1a Vectors and scalars covering the specification points:Explain the difference between a vector and a scalar quantity. Describe the difference between displacement and distance, between weight and mass, and between velocity and speed.
5-minute Physics Challenge. Write down the definitions for a vector and a scalar. For each of these, explain why one is a vector and one is a scalar: displacement and distance, weight and mass, velocity and speed. #gcsescience#edexcelscience#alloverit#revision
This is from the lesson C1a States of matter covering the specification points: Name the three states of matter, and the physical changes that occur between them. Explain why the movement, energy and arrangement of particles change during changes of state.
5-minute Chemistry Challenge. Sketch particle diagrams for solid, liquid and gas. Underneath each, write three words to describe the arrangement, the energy and how the particles move. Draw arrows to show boiling, freezing and condensation.
This is from the lesson B1b Plant and animal cells covering the specification points:Recall and identify the parts of plant and animal cells. Describe why they are classified as being eukaryotic.
5-minute Biology Challenge. Draw and label an animal and a plant cell from memory as fast as you can. Correct it using the revision guide or internet. Now redraw it quicker and better! #gcsescience#5minbio#alloverit
Over the past two days a group of A Level Science students have been at Cambridge university experiencing life as an engineering student. Well done to all involved!
