@abierkhatib I maintain we’re being farmed by big corporations like Health Insurance. Wealthiest country in the world by far, and ranked around the bottom of 1st world countries for health care, and have shorter lifespan. But we also think it’s normal & keep voting for people who support it.
@MikeNellis Obviously Hegseth is a buffoon, but the Pulp Fuction version is indeed derived from a text in Ezekiel, as he notes. And he specifically says that this is the “CSAR prayer.” The weird heresy is asking people to pray this with him, as if it were a genuine appeal to God.
@iahphx@smod4real@BahlestKimmie@ChristopherHale@grok So weird that this is considered to be “unusual” in a wildly unprecedented context. What is “usual” for MAGA? But honestly, when simply advocating for peace and critiquing the zeal for war is “Left” and therefore wrong, MAGA has literally nothing of value to offer the world.
@HeartlandSignal There’s a lot of witty comments to make about this absurd claim, but really, it’s just too much to deal with the constant flow of stupid. At least let’s hope it’s stupidity, and not a plain, albeit pathetic, attempt at deception.
@Acyn When you have secure Social Security and national healthcare, a stable government, who respects your decision not to dig up your minerals, it’s pretty hard to trade all that for 100k.
@RightWingWatch Watching him try to be pompously hyper-literal with the biblical text and then immediately contradicting it and adding his own micro layer of rules goes straight to form for these kinds of people (e.g., the comment about coveting, vs Ex. 20.17).
@akafaceUS You think you’re working, but you’re actually being farmed. You don’t need more money for anything other than to make sure you’re a productive farm animal.
@RpsAgainstTrump And we take away their health care; they experience health insurance bankruptcy; they start to generate homelessness; they die in the gutter.
@RpsAgainstTrump And the best way to honor those early Christian settlers who fled European religious authoritarianism and tyranny is to force our religion on everyone.
@elonmusk Buckley institute inferred this from public records. That Republicans automatically assume this is a political problem reflects why they are less common in academia: they presume the classroom is for political party ideological advancement.
@TheSaviour You know, Australia has had between 2 and 4 mass killings in 30 years, and experiences just over 1 single murder per day. I don’t know why Netanyahu or American 2A fans aren’t more embarrassed by their own wildly disproportionate systemic failures, and remain quiet.
@MattWhitlock Yes, God isn’t male or female. The Bible never says otherwise. Prophets use masculine language and feminine imagery (nursing mother, woman in labor), which rules out biological gender. Sex belongs to humanity, not to God — and Jesus’ maleness is a part of his humanity.
@highbrow_nobrow Ok, so maybe he should start by demonstrating scientifically why the experts are not acting scientifically, or are we supposed to put a religious zeal like faith in his unverified opinions?
@libsoftiktok I think the focus should be on outcomes: How many dead people pile up in Australia vs America, due to gun policies? Just taking mass shootings as a starting point: 2 in 30yrs for Australia, and hundreds every year in the US.
@derichturner@TheTNHoller Just guessing, but is it better to say that around 1962, America began to move away from tradition and Christianity as the dominant moral authorities, which signaled an acceleration of a social fragmentation process that other cultures have been able to control better.
