@thecheffchi I think it's clear like this: they lost N1000 initially, & the transaction later doesn't change the fact they lost N1000. Then they redistributed part of that loss into goods and N300 change. So, the supermarket's total loss remains N1000.

@thecheffchi Straightforwardly, the supermarket lost N1000 (due to theft) and then gave goods and cash without actually getting valid payment for the goods beyond the value they regained through sale. Thus, the loss is N1000.

@thecheffchi The aggregate loss is the N300 change plus the N700 worth of goods. Keeping in mind that the N1000 note itself was stolen, its value wasn't actually theirs to begin with when used for purchase. Lol. The loss would be the N1000 stolen - the N700 value of goods gotten from sales.

@terrificprodig1 ...then, we can comprehend that the paradox is rather an illusion, albeit a very real and mind racking one 😂. The assignment of a straightforward value to this "Pinocchio's Nose Paradox" is only proper when we think of it in levels or orders of sentences.
