@WilkesRosebud I understand. There's no replacing, of course. But saving another life in need, a distraction and a new BFF for my Schnauzer. Who I'm very worried about. Thank you for telling me.
How do you say goodbye to your best friend? I'm completely and utterly shattered. She loved me so unconditionally and so purely, in a way no human is worthy of.
And without any notice, she's just gone, forever.
The pain is insurmountable.
And my poor Schnauzer is lost.
Did it help?
A lot of people are saying that....which I've always read that the best help is to adopt another. I'm afraid another dog will be so different, I won't love it as much.
Although I adore my other dog and he's very different. Oh gosh, I don't even know. This is the worst.
@carmccone It does. I can't even function. Everything, everywhere reminds me of her. And she's just gone. We're never going to see her or hear her woo woo's again. It's horrific.
@JREHodges Shadow is beautiful! I love Shepards! Thank you for the pic! And nope, despite the awful pain, we wouldn't trade her, or the almost 14 years we had her, for anything.
I'm so sorry your dog is ill, but I'm very happy to hear he's recovering! That's fantastic! That's a great way of looking at it, that the price we pay for their love is the pain of losing them. I appreciate that word of wisdom.
I keep thinking "was it really worth it to go through all this pain"? Yes. Yes it absolutely was. I wouldn't trade having been Blessed with her for anything.
@Evertoningen She would have been 14 soon and we just thought we were doing everything we possibly could to get more years. Homemade food, filtered water, exercise, a fenced in yard. It just wasn't enough time.
What a face on Eliza! She was stunning! I'm so very sorry for your loss. I will pray for your healing.
And as much as we're grateful she didn't suffer, I think that's exactly it. We (very stupidly) thought she was constipated and were hoping it was a UTI....in the back of our minds we knew there could be a blockage, but she had been behaving SO normally. Right up until she wasn't.
@CalabroneDogs I'm so sorry for your loss and pain. The one thing I've learned is that it's just as horrific as the loss of a beloved human. So I can imagine that the grief can come back at any time.
And yes, thank you. She was as perfect as her picture.
@JREHodges That really is so true. I'm shattered. I knew it would hurt, but I presumed like losing my cat. Which also badly hurts. This is like losing my human best friend.
